According to my handy pocket ref book, weight is just over 4 lbs per ft. The shaft is 9 ft long. Spins with finger pressure with six bearings installed.

Crunch time, starting final assembly. A little dab of Lincoln Hot-loque on the critical sprocket bolts. 1E1288FD-2DC8-44D1-A47F-CFD4CA2F63D0.jpeg

I sure hope you get a bunch of snow to test it on! We are way over due for a good ol fashoned blizzard of a monumental size. :snowman:

Oh Boy, Oh Boy, can't wait.

Wasn't sure what this "Lincoln Hot-loque" stuff was until I looked closer at the pic. Thinking it was some sort of new lock tite brand but this looks to be next level stuff, lol.

Resists vibration better than any other. Does require a bit extra effort to remove though.

Rustyiron, yes that museum is still there, I haven't been inside of it yet, but it has all sorts of Americana and Worldward relics I understand.

I'm not the normal museum type, but put it on your list to do.

Looking at your pics again I see the potential to reduce the tractor RPM and still get 540rpm to the blower, by using different sprocket sizes on your driveline and the blower input shaft. Then you could run the tractor at, say 2000rpm to achieve the 540 at the blower, instead of 2500rpm (if that is what your tractor calls for to get 540 PTO speed). That would likely reduce the fuel consumption and make it a little less noisy in the cab. Or you could run the blower at higher rpm's to get more volume through it and throw the snow further.

When I converted my rear facing blower to front mount, with a homemade rear hydraulic power pack, I did a similar thing using a chain drive and sprockets of different sizes, to achieve 600 rpm at the blower input shaft. I ran my old Meteor snow blower on it and consulted with the manufacturer to see if they thought the higher rpm would be a problem and they said no. It certainly thew the snow further but lacked the torque I was after, even at lower rpm's. In the end I gave up on the project because I couldn't get a high enough pressure motor to produce the torque I wanted. I then went to the rear inverted blower and so far I'm happy with that choice. But I only have 1/2 a season running this setup. So more time will tell if I have the best (or as close as possible) setup for my needs and conditions. Hope yours works for all your needs and I can't wait to see it in action.

Hydraulic drive was my first plan. However, the power available with hydraulics from the 36 or so at the pto was a concern for me. Skid steer hyd blowers are run from a 75+ hp engine. The ones on compact tractors on the net always show operation in a couple inches, work great. The options of sprocket changes is there, but with the hp on hand 540 is what the design is for, must be for a reason. The snow we get drifted here, sometimes you can drive up on it. Trying to plow some last year stopped me in a couple of feet, turn around and blow. This will be interesting for sure. Changing to the bucket to break up hard pack is easy. Also have a Land Pride six ft blade for the back to back drag from the buildings. Grabbed it from local auction for under $500. Installing on the tractor tomorrow. Even painted lol.
