does anyone think it would be possible to make tracks that fit over the tires on an old bobcat?

Goodday,

Yes I've seen them built, and used them on bobcat for winter to pull a chipper through the bush. A series of crossbars that cover the tire side to side then extend down the sidewall a short distance. Just like regular snow chains crosslinks/bars but bent solid steel. Then linked togethere with chain, just like the rails on reg chains. Usually more crossbars (to provide floatation) then if needed you can weld (coarks) to the face of bar to add traction.

I've seen solid ones i.e. they are put on with one tire off then the other tire is put in the loop then bolted back on. Or like tipical chain with a claspe of some type.

Hope it makes sense.

Do you need the tracks or are you just looking for more traction? If just traction a set of tire chains goes a long way.

hit on search above and type in tracks and rdbrumfield. I posted some pics of tracks I made in 02. I made them for each tire, but it would work for a bobcat too.

Try searching on craigs list or e-bay. I see them listed once in a while.
