Blow this picture up and you can see how I did mine. I use a 12v off and on valve, tee into the tank return line. Just flip a switch and it comes down and if you forget to switch it back it well not dump. I didn't like my relief valve sound off while the bed was comeing down and it was slow.

have a look at attached picture where i have done some very fine artwork as an overlay to your photo! :p
can you tell me what the red, green and blue pipe are?
I am guessing the green pipe is the supply to the trailer coming from the A port? the blue pipe would appear to be tapping off the green pipe with a T piece? is it at this T piece that your electronic valve is so that the oil heading back to the valve to be dumped goes straight to the dump line?

is it a problem that you haven't got anything connected to the other outlet/inlet on the valve when using single acting cylinders? i'm guessing not?
Cheers Ed

No problem not having a return oil hose plugged in the other side on my Ford or my Kubota with the disc cutter with a SA cylinder. In fact I can't see the advantage or need of this return hose they speak of. If there's a problem beecause of the larger capacity SA cylinder just stop engine when lowering tilt trailer

Green is to the dump cyl and the blue and red are the same hose. The valve you can just see the top, it where the red wires are right behind the coupler.

Jim is right about all you have to do is shut the engine off, mine worked by doing that. I just didn't want to do that all the time,so I did it the way I did.

Yes, just turning off the engine will work fine. It will not make the bed come down any faster, but it will be a bit
quieter.

Another solution I really like and not hard at all is to convert the SA cyl to DA. I love the positive down
action, and it IS faster than gravity-dwon. Weld a fitting to the rod-side vent on the cyl and run another hose
to the DA valve.

so to fit a rear remote valve to operate a hydraulic tipping trailer with only a single acting cylinder, do i need a special single acting spool valve? or do i just hook up a double acting valve differently? or do i modify a double acting valve somehow?
i'm guessing it isn't just as simple as fitting it out as a double acting remote and just plugging the trailer hose into one of the two rear remote sockets for that valve? if that even makes sense?

open center system if that makes a difference

Why not just use a DA valve and DA cyl to simply things.

If you just want to use a DA cyl as SA, the install a breather plug in the DA cyl. Then plug the valves B port or run the B port hose to tank.

I see no reason to use SA cyl when there are thousands of DA cyl available.

we already have trailer with a fine working SA ram, do you think it would really be worth jacking up the trailer bad and ripping out the old SA cylinder and replacing with DA of same specs?

in any case i think i might just do as in my above diagrams if someone can confirm this would work as in a few years time i am looking to probably get some hay making gear and a lot of that uses SA cylinders, this would give me 2 DA remotes and 1 SA remote. cost more to set up but the best setup in the long run i reckon

Maybe he has on old single acting hoist a on an old running gear with a grain box. I don't think those would be very easy to convert to a double acting cylinder or be worth the investment of a new cylinder. If the present cylinder works, why replace it? I think updating the tractor hydraulics would be money better spent. The updated tractor hydraulics would then be more usefull for other attachments. That's my thoughts, for what it's worth.

also i know various farmers about i help out and if i were to need to use their SA dump trailer or their SA hydraulic folding mower (i know farmers with both of these) then i would be slightly screwed
