Simple trencher?

How about something like a Quick Spade?

I've done shallow trenches by cutting with a middle buster and then clearing the soil out with a trenching shovel. Once the soil is broken it's pretty easy.

I did come across those in my search and wasn't sure if they would work out of the box for this application, do they do look handy as heck for a myriad of things. Might get one just to have.

I have seen a picture of a plow being used for trenching. Can’t find the picture, but I think that the plow was pointing downward: don’t know if toplink was used.
Anyway, saw it on yesterday’s tractor website.

I think I saw that, too. But I think it was a two bottom plow tipped up in back to use just one bottom for trenching.

Been there, done that. For our type of ground, this simply CAN NOT be beat for shallow trenches, and we have an actual trencher that goes 5' deep.

I was fortunate to find this ditcher by John Deere. Very old. It was made for making actual irrigation ditches. 9" wide at the bottom and 19" deep from ground level. the long ditch is almost 300' long, took less than 5 minutes to pull. I simply put the blue tractor in 1st gear low range and idled the distance. If you want the ditch clean-clean, a flat end shovel should be used to clean out the crumbs.

This is one of the best implements I have. Really makes putting in irrigation lines a breeze. :thumbsup:
