If its straight, hang it under your truck. I moved a 32' 10 inch "H" beam with 6" flanges under a Ford F150 a few miles once. You gotta be very aware of grade changes...no stopping at the Kwik Mart on the way...

Also, all rail in the US is "closed cycle" meaning its never not railroad property, so if you take that piece, you are stealing it. Just FYI, I'm not judging, I might snag it myself, but be aware that justice is usually harsh and very unforgiving when the railroad is the victim and the have their own police force.

If you get caught with rail here, you might go to jail.

Yeah, that would work or ....... find a piece of pipe the right size and press it over the wooden wheel to make a steel tire. PVC pipe would probably work too, but it's kinda hard to find PVC that large.

I think the way it's generally done is to roll a ring and weld it together slightly undersized. Then you heat it up, that expands it, them drop it over the wheel and it cools and shrinks and becomes very tight on the wheel.

Same way you install new starter teeth on a flywheel, they are not welded just a friction fit.

Had a very hard to get to hydraulic hose to get to. A $5 Chinese wrench and a 1/2 drive spcket made an extended reach crowfoot.

had a lot more than that to do once ... picked up an old washing machine at the side of the road ... took it home , tied the drain hose up to the power cord , filled with water , dropped the taters in , ran for 10 minutes for each batch ...

put it out at the end of the driveway when I was done and the scrap metal guys picked it up ...
