Now that y'all have changed this thread from shaving to regional dialects, I can put in my 2 cents worth. New Orleans has many unusual regional dialects which I was not aware of until I traveled to other parts of the country and no one knew what I was talking about.

How many of you even know what our following common words mean:
neutral ground
banquette
alligator pear
beignet
flying horses
po boy
lagniappe
zink
ginny woman
shotgun house
Schwegmann's bag

I'll give it a shot without cheating... (no googling).

neutral ground = the land between the street and the sidewalk
banquette = any time someone else cooks
alligator pear = pineapple
beignet = what you catch big fish in
flying horses = mosquitos
po boy = a sandwich
lagniappe = not even a guess
zink = where you wash
ginny woman = direct all comments to Captainjack
shotgun house = a long house that if you shoot a shotgun through the front door it will go through all the rooms and out the back
Schwegmann's bag = The bag that Mrs. Schwegmann carries

How'd I do? :p

Neutral Ground = median

banquette = Been trying to figure this out since 'Confederacy of Dunces'?
alligator pear = ?
beignet = Delicious is what they are; can keep that burnt coffee. Blech.
flying horses = mosquitos or a Mobil Station
po boy = a sandwich
lagniappe = A little something extra.
zink = Wrench it off in the 'zink.
ginny woman = I would guess a Italian woman; who knows from down da buy-ya?
shotgun house = a long house that if you shoot a shotgun through the front door it will go through all the rooms and out the back
Schwegmann's bag = Brown Grocery store bag from defunct Schwegmans Grocery line.

neutral ground = median

banquette = sidewalk

alligator pear = avocado

beignet = Type of donut

flying horses = carousel

PO boy = sandwich but its gotta be made from the right stuff to be all dressed

lagniappe = a little extra

zink = duck sound or call

ginny woman = male gossip maybe gender challenged

shotgun house = Long narrow house with all the rooms on one side. Some places you access the rooms from an outside veranda.

Schwegmann's bag = Brown paper grocery bag used by a New Orleans store

I got some spare time. Too sore and stiff to do anything!
Spent about 11 hours yesterday doing yard work, undercoating trailer and crawling around underneath the truck knocking off rust. Did so well there's a metal cooling line that now needs replacement.:(

I'm another follicular challenged one here but I (or my wife) cut it to 1/8"
my skull feels like the surface of the moon (in my opinion) so I don't want to offend any one.
the beard gets cut to 3/8 or 1/2"
