I like the look and feel and comfort of it. Some people say I enjoy looking scay with my heavy east European accent:), but frankly, I am a Britney Spears wannabe:D:D

Shaved my head first on the end of mid school - got in trouble, also got in trouble for it in military service since it was considered a cheek.

Nowadays, since I make my living in a small special car shop - we rebuild old Corvettes to the liking of the customer - it helps with the heat and sweat.

But I burned my bald head on the exhaust of a car on the lift the other day :D

Woodchuckie: Did you mean a tuque, (pronounced: "tooook")? Up here in Canada a toboggon is a long wooden sled with front end rolled back. Used for many kids or adults to sit single file, scooting down a snow hill. Or sometimes for cargo, pulled by a dog team.

I'm trying to picture you in bed on a toboggan,....be quite an interesting bedtime ride me thinks,....? On the other hand, a French-Canadian "tuque" is much the same as a woolen "Watch-cap",...but usually a little longer and often more colourful. Now I can easily see you wearing one of these to bed,..I have worn my watch-cap to bed on very cold nights. Can you clarify please?

Sorry to Hi-jack the thread Czechsonofagun,....just didn't want this guy wearing the wrong thing to bed !!! That'd be a thread of interest: What do you wear to bed,.....on your bald head? Ha, ha! just kidding.

Shine 'er up !

In the south, toboggan is a stocking-cap, probably the same thing as a tuque (never heard of that). What you describe as a toboggan is what we call a "sled". Of course, a sled can also be a hood from a '78 Thunderbird.

I'm in western KY, but the company that I work at has several plants in Wisconson and Northern Illinois, and we have had the discussion of "What's a toboggan?" several times.

Do any of you guys call a water fountain a "bubbler?" One of our guys from Traverse City, MI said that's what they called them there?

I suppose I am not the only TBNer who shaves his head. Here is my process:

- I shave every 4 days or so while taking a shower
- using Mach 3 and regular soap
- Gillette aftershave gel
- once a day sun block or some other lotion - Udderly Smooth:D for instance

I've got a woman that has been shaving my head for me since about 1985... very slowly.... a few hairs at a time.... her name is Mother Nature and she's a cruel, cruel woman!!!! :p

I miss my hair!!! At least all the emoticons are bald, too!!:p;):D:eek::):(:cool::eek: Except for this guy --- --- who is confused.

You mean a scuttlebutt? That's what all good sailors call them.:D

My mother used to call a stocking cap a toboggan cap. That makes me believe that it meant the kind of cap you would wear when you ride a toboggan. Over the years, it just got shortened, especially since we don't have a lot of toboggans down here in the south.

In the US Navy, they call that navy blue wool cap a watchcap. I don't stand many watches anymore, but that term is going to be with me for a long time.

Tugboat, Wikipedia says that tuque is Canadian and that in England, Australia and New Zealand, they call them a beanie. To me a beanie is like a ballcap with no bill, but not a knit cap that is rolled up.

Shaving my head would be too much trouble. I just run the Wahl hair clippers over my head cutting the hair as close as the clippers can cut it.:D Most of the time, my wife does it for me, but I can do it myself.:)

Good Mornin Bird,
I use the same clippers, but I have to use the #2 extension on the end of the Wahl clippers. Kathleen doesnt like it any shorter than that ! ;):)

Really like savin $10 every week ! :D

Good Mornin Double O,
Your not tryin to get Egon into any trouble are you ? ;):)

But you have a normal shaped head. I suppose I should feel fortunate that, at nearly 50, I still have the same amount of hair on my head as I did in high school with only a few gray stragglers. If I shaved my head I'd look terrible since I've got such a lumpy shaped noggin' and the 4 round scars from where I had to wear a "halo" from when I broke my neck would show rather prominently.

To be honest, I'd rather just shave my head and not have to worry about it. I've just used the Wahl (I think that's the name) clippers on myself for the last 30 years or so. I tried a friend's clippers in college and have never paid for a haircut since. A lady who works for me has a husband who looks really good (no, I'm not gay!) with a shaved head. His issue is that he not only still has hair, but far, far thicker hair than I do. He has to shave his head every day or he could rip clothing with it. He also shaves his body as well. He suggests a "Venus" brand razor because it doesn't rip his nips off like others. Uh, TMI! Fortunately I don't have to take a weed whacker to the inside of my ears or nose, but I do have hair sprouting in places I didn't used to. I'm wondering if that isn't a start of something. I've been told that a guy doesn't really lose his hair, it just migrates to lower parts of his body.

I guess maybe it was just a southern expression, but like the others, I wore a toboggan when I was a kid. I don't remember when they changed the name to a stocking cap.

You're not like my mother in law are you? I've never heard her ever say the word "refrigerator". She will only call it an "ice box". There again, she grew up in eastern Kentucky. She says a lot of things that leaves me scratching my head...you'uns, we'uns, us,uns, they'uns etc. :)
