Sharpening mower blades

I think it would be OK to sharpen on the deck a time or two, but the blades should be checked for balance and straightness eventually.

None of the mowers I have seen give enough room to even consider sharpening in place.

And on my ZTR, its a whole lot easier to remove the blades than it is to remove the deck (or at least get it high enough to try to sharpen while leaving them on)

On the Ventrac mowers the deck will tilt up and lock in an upright position and there is enough clearance to use an angle grinder; at least on the contour and rough mowers I have, but I zip them off with an impact wrench and sharpen on the belt sander.

AND that's ANOTHER reason I chose a Grasshopper mower!!

The "power lift deck" makes THAT maintenance job, easy!

I would not like being in the open like that. How does the GH attach to it?

Grasshopper offers a cab, with heat...

Grasshopper has a 2 point, quick attach hitch, with a pto shaft to run the mower or any other attachments...

It works perfectly!

You have a pic of the QAH? Ventrac offers a Cab with heat but I'm not spending 5 k for it. As you see in my photo is my poor mans cab. I reverse the trans fan for some heat. Its better then being wide open to the mist the SB makes.

Last time I priced a GH cab, it was $2,500.00 with heat, lights, and a window wiper...

I don't need it, a snow suit and goggles works just fine and as long as you aren't blowing into the wind, the blower blows the snow quite a ways away...

Because it's a zero turn, you can wiggle right in close to car's, buildings ect... It works better than I thought it would.

With the liquid cooled Kubota diesel a homemade heated cab would be an easy job.

The GH 725D does have a heated cab which is great for winter snow blowing but I leave mine on year round. I had an upholstery shop make the vinyl windows zippered, added nylon mesh screens to keep the bugs and added a small cooling fan like those in a truck or RV to provide ventilation in summer. A rear view camera, a holder for smart phone, passive noise reduction headset and ear buds complete the set up.

My blower is not a 0 turn but a regular CUT.

I simply take the door off in the summer and have 2ea 4" computer type 12 volt fans that blow air on me. They put out enough CFM's to also keep the insects from coming in to bite me.
