any updates?

I have tack welded the Plasma cut front plate to the machine . This 20mm thick plates takes all the loads the mulcher , chipper and backhoe arm transmit to the machine . I am bidding on a 500amp 3 phase mig welder on ebay at the moment as my current welder isn't big enough to weld 20mm steel .

I bought a marine transmission that can handle 650hp that I am fitting to the rear of the engine . It will give me forward , neutral and reverse .

I can also spin my swinging hammer mulcher in both directions which will allow me to mow light scrub in one pass like a flail mower with the bottom of the rotor forward and in the other direction for heavy scrub in a two way pass method as per the usual method .

The woodchipper has been loaded on the Boat and will be here in 3 weeks .

The fixed tooth mulcher I have decided on is a dual drive Ferri which is extremely well made .

Really enjoying the build, you are doing a great job.

Just a bit of a nit pick.

Your hp going through a transmission will be the same (minus gearbox losses)

It will roughly double your torque.

You're right , I should have been speaking of the Torque increase , not HP increase . I have removed the comment .

So 800 odd lbft should get the job done .

Fitted the transmission this afternoon , just need to drill the bell housing bolt holes and bolt it up . Thats another job done , that makes today the 20th day I have worked on it . I would have it going by now if I didn't have so many other things to do , as well as running a business .

I have some fiddly bits ahead of me , I still have to wire up the ECU from the donor truck to get the engine running . I am hoping the donor truck also had cruise control as I will hook that up too . If I put a tone wheel on the output shaft flange on the transmission , I will be able to set the output shaft speed from within the cabin . When the machine hits a tough patch of bush , the cruise control will sense the shaft speed decrease and it will throttle the engine up the same as it would have on the road when the truck hit a hill .

I decided to stop putting off the making of the cover for the aircon evaporator unit I mounted to the ceiling . I made an Aluminium base and covered it with 1/2" foam and Grey vinyl . I mounted the original interior light and the fan/temp control panel in it so it looks pretty stock . UHF radio is mounted on it's right and a small reversing monitor will be mounted on it's left .
