I am just about to have a floor poured for my new pole building. I wonder about sealing the concrete. My concrete guy says he can apply sealant when he cuts the expansion joints after the pour and set up. Question: Should I wait longer to seal, or is this ok??

I am anxious to get the building into use...but I plan to stay off the new concrete for about a week....and hate to wait any longer with a sealer. I sure recognize the value of a sealer when it comes to sweeping and cleaning. :)

It should be sealed as soon as he is done power troweling

I would agree with above. The sealer acts to "lock" moisture inside the concrete which allows a better/stronger cure IMHO.

As far as a product name I plan to use BASF Sonneborne Kure-n-Seal.

Hmmmm.....that seems to trigger my memory....and I think that's what he was telling me. Thanks for the advice.

Agree with all above - Kure-n-Seal -as soon as the power trowel is off the floor. We used to use an 18" roller working out of a wheelbarrow. If you use a sprayer clean it immediately or it's a one time use. You might ask your finisher to leave it "fuzzy -not burned" so it won't be as slippery when wet. If he's any kind of finisher he'll know what that means. MikeD74T

I have sealed the concrete on the floors of all my pole barns and garages. The kind I use I get from the local Sherman Williams store. It is applied after the concrete has set up. I then apply a Sherman Williams two part epoxy coating over that. It holds up real good and makes cleanup very easy.
