Rotary Mower Remodel

I've been using this inexpensive rotary mover for a few years and got sick of the back corners digging up the sod. Didn't take a real before pic so I did a mock up... I like it so far!

Have to wonder why the mfg doesn't cut those corners off and save on steel (or maybe they made some profit on the steel ).

I have a missing front & rear guard on my old mower, so I need to do something similar to mine.
Where did you get the rubber belt material?

I used an eight foot section of old conveyer belt and a short section of a truck mud flap. Plan B was to use a mud flap cut into 6" strips.

Something like Mud Flap 1/4" rubber 24" x 36", 2436S, James King

Nice work. How well are the clippings expelled ? Appears the skirt would sure slow down a rock or whatever else a hog can throw out much better than chains.

Clippings don't really get expelled but it did clump more with the corners.

I suspect it has to do with the ease of the Mfg process....

Some (most, I suspect) remove the front and rear guards as removal does improve discharge. Do not recommend doing this if you're not mowing a safe distance from livestock, people and houses.

It's hard to mow a safe distance from yourself, the operator.
My front guards are gone but I only get sprayed a little with debris once in a while so haven't made new guards. Dumb.
