I live in southern Oregon. have a dk40 and have regraded some of my acerage with a box scraper, and was wondering what is the easiest way to remove rocks. I get a new crop of rocks that come up every year, some fairly good size( abit smaller than a basketball). I think a landscape rake would'nt handle anything too large. was wondering if a chain harrow could do it.

Can't help you with the chain harrow. Never used one. You sure must have a bunch of rocks. You could make big money with them here. Some people pay a good bit for what they call landscaping rocks. To bad hauling would be expensive because I could find a second income and you could get rid of all your rocks./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There have been some previous posts from the group in New England (It seems they grow them in fields every year up there). I've seen pictures of an attachment that actually picks up the rocks and puts them in a bucket for dumping later...pretty neat stuff. Anyway if you search a bit you should find all kinds of good advice.

I just got one of these. Vreten stone fork I have the 75'' with the 2'' spacing. Works as advertised. Because the tines stick out beyond the sides, and you can see the tips, it also can function as forks for lifting things, like logs. It's expensive, but I can't hurt it with my tractor. Except for some wear from scraping on bedrock, lifting and sorting dirt. I scrape dirt up with the bh, then sift with the stone fork. Very rocky soil, and I can get 3 cubic yards per hour. That's good enough for my own use. Oh, and it's the cat's meow for handling firewood.

This is the distributor. Howard S. Crane I went through my local NH dealer. On their site is a price list too. There probably is a list of dealers somewhere. Probably could call them or Degelman. I think I got the last one Howard S. Crane had. I wanted the one with the 3'' spacing, mainly to save on weight, but had to settle for the 2''. Now I'm glad I got the one I did.

This is what I use to remove what we grow up here in New England. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
