We asked the person who filled the well if any foreign matter was put down the shaft... He said no, it was clean fill and we have no reason not to believe him.
My brother-in-law witches water ( that's a whole 'nother thread) and found there is still a strong vein of water about 26 - 28 feet down. He lives a few miles away and has a well at similar depth, which he uses to supply the house and water 70 head of cattle.
