Robot mowers

What I'd be curious to see is whether in tall grass it can "nibble" -- take passes at half the width of the cutting deck, the way you would if you were mowing grass that was more than your mower could handle.

In the wetter seasons, my grass will grow 4" in about 5 days. It may have to be constantly mowing

This thing had been great. Riding mower went to my other property and Lymow took care of bidness all summer. 1.45 acres with some steep slopes. The slopes are why I went with this one.

Every video I see, these things are in short grass. The SHORTEST mine is ever, is 4". Its probably 6"+ when I mow. How will that affect it?

Yarbo seems to be the premium option right now. The quality of cut on taller cool season grasses is not as good as a proper ZTR with high lift blades. If I were older and less likely to do work in hot weather, it would be a great option. I’d make the quality of cut concession.

These are not for cutting tall grass to short in one mow. That is one of the things I love about it. It cuts so often there is no noticeable grass clippings.

When I used to cut once a week with the rider the clippings were so thick and long they would kill the lawn in spots.

While the Lymow can make tall grass short, it takes multiple passes taking off a little at a time and that’s not what it’s made for. It is made to keep grass at the same length and looking almost perfect all the time.

So what if it cuts daily during the peak of summer? It’s quiet and enjoyable to watch go around.

Well, it appears with 4" grass, cutting so often, it matted it down significantly with the tracks, and without a high lift deck, the grass that is trampled, isn't cut. Which is what gave the poor appearance. A component of a quality deck is it's ability to lift the grass and cut

I look at it this way. I’ve always hated mowing the lawn from when I was a teenager with a push mower, then riding mowers, a ztr and now a compact tractor with a mmm. It takes me 2-3 hours a week, sometimes twice a week in the spring dòing the same boring thing. So if I can offload that to do other things that either need doing, or something I truly enjoy, it was $2500 well spent.
Is it perfect, nope. Are there bugs that still need to worked out, yup. But before last couple of mows, I was cutting at 3.5 inches and changed the mowing pattern each time. Grass looked good to me.

You don’t have a clue what you are talking about out. Yes with a zero turn your a hero blasting that tall grass down. With this your grass never even gets tall. It’s a totally different thing. It lays down perfect stripes at what ever angle you select, can also do diamond/checker pattern at what every cross angle you select.

Cool season grass gets cut to 4" height. So, yes it does get tall enough to get matted under the tracks. It will under a tire too, but a normal mowing deck will lift grass

This came from reviews I saw from users who were actually sent free mowers. Overall they were happy, but the quality wasn't the same as a normal mower. ZTR or not. I'm sure if you cut under 3", it's a different story, but that is not a healthy summer height for cool season grass in summer heat

Not sure what you mean by a "hero"?
