I can tell you similair gaskets on my 2002d have been about .026". I would use 1/32" material or similiar mm size and get on with it.

I will ramble a little here. The differential carrier bearings install in the axle housing. They have shims behind them on both sides. The bevel gear to pinion gear should have about .006" to .009" backlash. That is accomplished by proper shim size on both sides. The proper thickness axle housing gasket also plays a roll. The thicker the gasket the more you will affect backlash.

Was there not a piece of the old gasket you could check for thickness?

Very nice primer work.

Thanks, about the red i have found two massey ferguson red, super red for vintage tractor (mf 35) and red for actual tractor, which is the correct color? thanks :thumbsup:

Massey-Ferguson deep bright red I was told.

Neither is correct, both are close. Hoye color-matched their own mix, I think from the lower dash panel.

Seeing that he is doing a restore in Italy, it would be cost effect with the M-F colors being a very close match. He can buy what is local than to order, pay the shipping and export/export taxes before it arrives to his door.

Obtaining the colors locally keeps costs down and he has availability for years to come. His Yanmar would look new vs. most looking shabby over there. Thus, the comparison would be minimal to the faded paint and rusty gray market Yanmars already out there in Italy.

i am with you. Yes it may not be right but no one but a purist would know and most could never tell unless it was side by side with the correct color. I would find what i can get local that is close and use it and not loose sleep over it before i shipped it international. The shipping on a flat rate Internation 12x12x6" box is like $60 if i remember right.
