:confused3:

I was just kidding. Your posted that we Southerners should have a forum to discuss okra and kudzu. I thought it was funny and tried to respond in kind.:)

My apologies for the confusion. Notice that I could say something about Yankees being confused, but refuse to do so.:)

What are us "in-between" border state guys supposed to do?
we get snow and cold weather, Cling to our guns and our religion, and dang it, we like our fried chicken and Okra.and some of us even eat "gray-its" too:laughing:
I think of myself as Southern, tho my over the border friends think of me as "that Yankee" But I am pretty interested in the snow removal equipment.

I have a pickup truck that sees the woods and dirt roads more than pavement. Own guns, drink beer, love eating wild game, likes bluegrass, etc.

Back to the O.T.

I agree with a snow board, get it, snow board. Crack myself up:D Not even T.W.D. and came up with that one.

I was going to nominate you as an "Honorary Southerner" until you got back to the OT. I withdraw my nomination. :)

We should make a list.

Philly cheese steak versus a BBQ "sam-ich"
Polka music versus bluegrass
boiled meat and potatoes versus fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy
rhubarb versus okra
etc.

I report, you decide.:)

Steve

Boiled meat????????????????? Yikes. I'm afraid to hear what you guy's say about us on a non-family forum...:D

Out here in the West anybody that lives outside of city limits can qualify as a redneck. One simply needs a pickup, a rifle, a flannel shirt, and preferably at least one broken vehicle on the property cinder blocks optional. :-D

Now if what I'm hearing is correct and you folks in what we call the Northeast are boiling your meat well that's just nasty. But you folks in the Southeast really should stop cooking weeds for dinner. :)7

Sir, which Southern delicacy have you mistaken as a weed? Surely not collards, turnip greens, poke salad (aka poke salat), or ramps.

BTW, when you **** Yankees or **** Westerners travel to the South, here's an easy way to tell when you have crossed into Georgia from SC. In SC, the collard patches are in the backyard.:)

Don't get me wrong there are some Southern dishes I do like. You boys in the South certainly know how to make a chicken fried steak the right way. I also love :gray-it's: and I'm still trying to perfect my hush puppies and nobody beats Southern BBQ. But I just can't seem to like all them plants and vegetables you're all so fond of. To be fair though I'm not a big greens eater no matter where there from. :)7

Sadly my digestive system will no longer tolerate very spicy food so no hot sauce for me. :(

Let me know when you post the recipe I've tried a few but they never come out right.

I've seen chicken fried chicken once or twice not sure what that's about? I guess it's basically boneless fried chicken but bigger than chicken strips or "chicken fingers".

OT still no chance of snow or snow equipment ever here. :)7

Let me know when you post the recipe I've tried a few but they never come out right.

There are a lot of very good hush puppy recipes...the hardest part is getting the batter consistency right and the oil the right temperature so they get golden brown on the outside and not doughy in the middle....there will always be some batches that are better than others...regardless of the recipe...

I will try to post the recipe sometime this weekend...it dates back to the early 1900's...it's from a Gulf coast (West Central FL) fishing community...that was used by a multitude of different groups that held regular "fish fries"...IMO it is exceptional...nothing fancy just plain good...but one of the key ingredients makes the difference...

David, our good-natured exchange reminds me of my favorite bumper sticker here in the Sunny South: "We Don't Care How You Did It Up North." :)

Did you see the one about saving the south? It says to buy a yankee a bus or plane ticket!

Sorry I could not resist...
