I'm not sure that I want the tines that have the two holes close to each other. My ground is so rocky that I'm concerned about breaking tines. I broke two on my T bilt Tuffy.....

Not sure about the original question but when I lived in the glacial till gravel loam soil of mid Maine, my 1982 Troybilt Horse was pushed to the absolute max in terms of abuse. Rocks--not stones--were everywhere and I found a lot of them.
The soil wore tines down to the nubbins and the rocks had the tiller hopping in the air but I never broke a standard tine---or anything else.
For what it's worth, my tines had two bolt holes.
