Too bad we can't have folding type of lights. You know like the mirrors on cars. Lol
Lights need to be seen from front and back which makes a big difference from swing away mirrors.
I'd mentioned earlier the idea of deflectors. Even something as crude as a 2 x 6 (actually 1 for thevfront and I for the backside). While the don't change the width . . they do protect the lights. Or what about slipover plastic covers.
I guess the other question for those that are having problems with their lights is . . . aren't the same branches that hit your lights the same branches that hit your tractor or you? ? My point is the lights are wider than the rops but are only a few inches wider than the tractor fenders or fel arms. Another way of looking at it is the lights are shoulder or head height of a sitting operator . . . its hard to imagine you don't "see" the branches. If I'm sitting on the seat and I extend my arms out sideways . . My hands are definitely out wider than the lights. Sure I can imagine trimming a little close to a branch when mowing once . . but to do it repeatedly with armored lights ???
Or is the problem that its happening only on the non-armored models ?
I'd previously mentioned another idea to make the lights quick attach/detachable because the lights are only needed on roads. Anyone ever tried a similar idea ?
It just seems to me this isn't some complex unsolvable problem that othervtractor owners don't have if they have well viewable lighting:
1. If you can reach out and touch the branch while seated . . you're too close. Too close . . Too close. Damage to paint or plastic or hydro lines or operator is imminent
2. Or put something over the lights front and back if you really want to be up close and personal with tree branches or ????
3. Make the tail lights detachable when not on a roadway.
4. Make the lights fold backward when desired.
I personally don't like the idea of putting the tail/directional lights inside the rops because it reduces the current excellent visibility they offer on the road.
