I live right next to a golf course. Part of the 3+ hours I do mowing, there is a chance that me or even worse, Bota, could get hit by a golfball. Does anyone know how much a repalcement hood on a BX2200 costs?

I could be wrong but I doubt a golfball will damage the hood beyond repair. It would probably be easier to take it to a body shop and pay for a repair and repaint. Maybe add some kewl Kubota graphics, flames or checkered flags!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif , maybe even paint it green!! Many people here probably have the ability to do the repair themselves. I'd say a good pellet gun is in order. If they hit you, it's because they're trying to hit you. If it happens, perhaps the golf course owners would pay for the repairs. Anyway, get a helmet.

The answer should be "less than it will cost for you to get your golf-cart back" after towing it away with your BX.

Maybe tractorsmart.com could answer your question w/an email.

Those golf balls also can do a number on mower blades. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Actually if you every saw a golf ball shot out of a BX 60" MM (and I have) it is quite amazing!

golfballs

I love it: More worried about your tractor than your body. You could be me. Reminds me of the time I fell out of a tree. Luckily I landed on my head!

You might otter get a hardhat if you are indeed in danger of taking a golfball blow even if you are a moving target. A friend of mine was golfing one day and heard, "FORE!" He looked up just in time to take the ball right square on the nose. When he woke up he discovered he had a crushed nose and required surgery. I guess he is lucky it didn't kill him.

Hardhats are much cheaper than surgery.

I seriously doubt that any golfers were trying to hit Jon. If these guys (a.k.a. duffers) are hitting balls over on to Jon's property, it's a sure bet that they've lost a bunch of other balls during their round of "hacking". They're not going to want to be whacking balls off the course 'cause they can't afford to replace them all.

<font color=blue>"If it happens, perhaps the golf course owners would pay for the repairs."</font color=blue>

Unfortunately, this probably will never happen since in most states, providers of recreational activities are generally protected by recreational immunity laws. In other words, the golf course can't be held responsible for what a golfer does. Another consideration is which came first, Jon's house and property or the golf course? If the golf course was there first, and Jon knew it was there when he bought the property, I don't think Jon would have much to stand on if he wanted to file a suit.

Best suggestion might be to plant a row of fast growing trees to act as a buffer and screen.

I've seen (and you probably have too) guys swinging at the driving range trying to hit the cart that picks up the balls. Orange is a tempting target.

As for the course owners, they don't want to pay for the damage, they'd get some round-up ice cubes from the lawn-o-pult! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif right on the greens!

I would just strap on my pistol. The big shiney one. That way you could shoot back /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif .
I like the statement about the golf course being there first so he does not have a leg to stand on, funny how all over the country airfields and aerodromes that have been in existence for decades are having to close because of high density tract housing and noise complaints. We were there first rule does not seem to work so well. I hate tract housing.
Hey, I was just kidding about the pistol, sorta.
Sooner or latter when all the other activities have been done away with one by one "they" will turn to golf and it's expensive waste of land. I don't like "they" either. I want my own planet.

Do they ever have tournaments at the golf course? How about setting up a tee in your back yard and returning the balls when their tournament is running?

Excellent idea!
Wouldn't work for me as I would not be able to hit them. In fact, if they return fire, I'd need that helmet.

Years a go my parents owned a home on a golf course. The house was set back between 25 and 35 feet into the woods along a fairway. One day a golfer sent a golf ball through a sliding glass door into the living room.

The golfers homeowner's insurance policy paid for the repair.

If you can identify the golfer who damages your tractor, the repair shouldn't cost you anything.

(Do you have a hard hat? Repairs to you are not as easy.)
