Same for me. I wanted the L3830, but bought the Case DX35 mainly because of the seat.

And to make it worse, the Bota dealer is awesome!

You got it right PS Dawg. I have been watching these post for over a year for a good idea on how to level the seat on my B7800. I took your post on cutting 1 inch off of the seat springs and did it. Finally I feel like I am sitting normal instead of sliding forward.

Just got a BX2350 and the first thing I did was raise the seat 2" with a spacer, a 2"x2" sqaure light tubing. It made all the difference for me as I am 6'3" and 220lbs

I had a B7800 in which I did not like the seat. It was new so I didn't replace it. Though I replaced the seat on my Ford 1210 and I love this seat. $100 dollars at TSC. Arms fold - seat folds. I am 6'4 - 280

Stu1951,

Can you post a picture of the spacers you put in your BX2350 seat.
I am 6' 4" and have a BX24 and feel the seat slides me forward while mowing.

Thanks, I am really surprised that more people have not performed this mod.

With lots of adjustments the B3030 seat is ok (bailey) for a fer hours, after 4 or 5 hours seat time it really stinks. 8-10 hours straight is normal for us on any given day, and snow is coming! Im 5'8" 170 lbs.

6'5" 230#'s, 5030 seat feels like I am sliding forward.

Wish one of those Bota zero turn seats would fit!

It only took about a half hour to remove & cut the springs. I put the spring in a vise and used a Dremal tool with a cutting disc to slice through the spring. It was an easy remedy for such a nagging problem of that tilting seat. I will be on my Kubota for about 5 hours today chopping leaves, mowing grass and using the lawn sweeper to clean it up. My "butt" is grateful...........

The seat on a Grand L3830 (??) kept me from buying a Kubota. Wonderful machine, simply perfect in everyway, except the seat.

My L3830 must have come with a different seat then yours, its perfect, I would not want it any other way. It has an adjustable back, folding armrests and fits me very well. I like seats firm and solid. I don't want a bunch of recline in it either even though I could.

I beleive i just secured our largest snowplowing contract ever! The first thing im going to purchase with the downpayment is a new seat & a nice weight box. I also will need a laptop to track the storms and the kubota cab speakers are low end so those need to be upgraded, and i guess i need xm in the cab too! Please dont let my wife see this post!

I have the same problems as others with the seat in a Grand L3430 cab model. I searched the archives and didn’t seem to find any solution so I decided to tackle it myself.
I made a set of risers for the front out of ¼” X 1” aluminum. Steel might even be better but I had this in stock and works easier. I drilled holes at 1” increments so it could be adjustable from a 1” rise to a 3” rise. I drilled another set of holes into the original seat brackets and also machined a couple of “washers” to fill the large holes in the original seat brackets as well to keep them from being sloppy.
The installation went fine except for the “safety” switch (?) located under the seat would not longer work correctly when the seat is in the down position. For the time being, I have tie wrapped it closed until I figure out a better solution. Don’t really know what this switch is for but figured it must be closed to work.
Also the modification requires some trimming of the plastic seat bottom to allow the extra bracket.
I have it set on the 2” rise right now and that seems to work just fine. I’ve got the option of changing it either way with a quick loosening of 2 bolts. The ¼ aluminum is just about the right thickness. Any thicker and the original shouldered bolts wouldn’t work.
I was worried the aluminum wouldn’t be strong enough but seems to be holding up well.
I don’t know if the other seats are similar but at least this works on this model.
No more wedgies!!!!

Don't you suppose that an engineer from Kubota that reads this site could at least post the reasoning behind why the seat tilts forward? Geehz.. I would think that there has to be some type of reasoning other than to torment users. I'll either be cutting springs or raising the front as well on my BX..

If I had seen this solution, I would have been running Orange and not Blue. Day late and a dollar short :)

Here is the response I got from Kubota regarding their seat.

Dear Billy,
Thank you for your comments on the areas you would like to see changes made to on your 5030, 2200.
Your comments have been passed along for possible evaluation.
Thank you for purchasing Kubota product.

We have to get these seats more comfortable, they make us feel like we are sliding forward. After a few hours they just wear you out! Check the various forums and see that Bota is even losing sales because of the seats.

Not sure why you would think your post goes against any family orientation, but I must also agree. I am really puzzled about those who find the seat difficult. I must admit, I always sit up and do not slouch. Perhaps that is the difference, you guys have bad posture.:D I wonder what you guys would have thought about the old steel seats.

Actually, I've spent some time on an old ford 8N, the steel seat was not that bad and it didn't make you feel like you were going to slide off the front of the seat. Instead of poor posture, perhaps some of us are not fat enough to overcome the force of the springs underneath the rear of the seat :D. It seems that some have "corrected" this issue by cutting the springs. Perhaps, a possibility for why some find the seat good and others don't may be that the force provided by the springs could vary significantly from seat to seat. I can't see Kubota testing each and every seat spring for consistency. I bet that if you pulled springs from 10 tractors, and tested them in a spring compression fixture, spring pressure would probably vary widly. Nevertheless, one way or another I will address this seat issue before next season.

Interesting Jim, I am not gravity enhanced although I am big boned. I have never felt like I am sliding forward be it my L48 or L3830. Perhaps after I sell my L3830 HST I will pay more attention. After about 600 hours on my L3830, I'm good. Perhaps a Deere or New Holland will make me understand what a "real" cozy seat is like. If so, I'll be all over that bandwagon. Can't wait. :p
