Never encountered a rusted in place hitch... removed many when I worked at the Dealership.

We don't salt the roads here in California.

My cousins live in snow country and they do salt... every time they visit they just couldn't get over all the rust free older California cars...

My wife is on City Police Services Board..........not seen as illegal, and if others following too close for conditions , their problem,
I served 20 years. Not illegal AFAIK.

I did buy a '99 Ranger that had one rusted in. I towed that Oak tree 1/2 mile before I gave up. The new owners appreciate the shade
I just left it for light duty towing.
I pull the one on my Jeep to save my shins. Not much petty theft around here.

I have the same problem on an old 87 deck truck I picked up a month or so ago, the receiver tube had a plate welded over it as well, I have been spraying it regularly with Fluid film and WD 40 and can now manage to move it a millimeter or two from side to side with a hammer, I hooked onto my old 12 foot heavy harrows and drug those around the field for half an hour hoping to snag a badger hole and pop it out and it didn't budge... next step is giving it some heat I guess.

Cheers

Roger

i bought a truck with a pop up gooseneck ball in it that had not been used in years.. had a bed cover over it. I sprayed it every day with kroil. then after a week i tapped it out pretty easilly with a small ballpeen. no big deal. prior to that i couldn't move it with a maul..

I believe they are illegal to leave in full time in Saskatchewan for that reason ,the guy behind won't be as lucky but if he just tapped your bumper neither would be hurt.

maybee in sask people should just learn not to rear end people?

How do y'all keep your hitches in for an extended period without someone stealing them? I'm told they are taken as untraceable scrap iron.

I don't trust locking pins.

a good hard locking pin goes a LOOOONG way.

I find it funny a F350 finally found some work to do that is worthy of bragging about. Time to put it back in the garage now.

That 350 has done more work than 10 trucks combined. No reason to get it out till 12K though, that is what my Ecoboost is for.

Are you really saying that a 2500 dmax couldn't free it, but your f350 could? Did he actually try it... like against a tree or something?

Both trucks hammered it down 2 times with 3 foot of slack in the chain.

No, it would not free it on its own. Rust is as strong as a weld sometimes. This is about the 10th hitch that is stuck I have dealt with at my shop. 2 we never did get out and had to replace the entire hitch.

Yes he tried but could get it out.
