Ughhh, how do you guys do this all the time???

Web went down at 8 this morning. Probably storm related. Supposed to be back up this evening.

This little keyboard is annoying!!!!

A lot of phones allow you to enable a personal WiFi hotspot, and you can connect to it from your computer.

Browsing from your phone will probably make more efficient use of your phone's data plan, in case that's a concern.

First world problems!

I tried my iPhone once. Logged in to TBN and posted one very short message. That was more than enough for me!!!

Oh, you don稚 know what youæ±*e missing! You, too could write posts which look like éhis!?br>
Rats!!!! The one time I知 trying to make a funky post!

You know - I've always thought those "funky" posts came from using a cell phone. Guess I was correct. NO THANK YOU - this darn Apple keyboard is just about as small as these old hands/fingers can handle. Cell phone keyboard - even turned horizontal ---- two strokes forward, one stroke back. Then you have finally constructed what could be a recognizable post - accidentally touch the wrong key - Happy Days. You get to start all over again.

We installed UPSs on our Modem, PCs, TVs, and Dish receivers and CCTV system. We hate phone screens too.

Ha! If you're on an iOS device, go to Settings - General - Keyboards, and deselect Smart Punctuation.

I did that intentionally for demonstration purposes.

(Edit) That is a good tip though.

Time for you to get a portable generator. Even a small 1000 watt inverter generator will run almost all of your electronics. Our Phone/Internet provider has great battery backup systems so I just needed something on my end. UPS's for quick outages and a small generator for long ones. I also have a 3600watt inverter in my plow truck for redundancy. I always have a source of power.

Ain't nunna that gonna help when the outage is in ISP equipment 200 miles away.

All I use is an iPhone for TBN so I can stream movies on TV and shop on line with a swipe of a finger.

Can’t imagine setting in front of a key board and monitor.

Darn. Even in our rural, backwoods area our ISP has Battery Backup. If the power will be down for an extended time they deploy portable generators to each substation to keep people online. Guess we are just fortunate.

I don't really know what the outage cause was. Multi-hour outages are usually because somebody dug up a cable or storms push poles over. Couple of years back, we had a garbage truck come through with the dumpster forks up and tore down 50' of new fiber optic cable. No power backup will help in those cases.

We think of 'the web' as a single interconnected web with multiple routing redundancies, but in reality, it's more like a number of overlayed pipelines. One gets broke and lots of stuff quits while stuff right next to it carries on.

I can send my wife an email 5 feet away and it usually travels to California and back via undersea cable and often takes a minute or so. With her iPhone, sometimes it takes a call or voicemail a week to get here from 120 miles away.

With my Apple as well as the Kyocera I had previously, if somebody leaves me a voice message when I'm out of range I won't know until somebody else leaves a message. Sometimes I won't get it for two weeks, if nobody else has called me.
