Rear Blade

I am currently shopping to purchase a 6 ft rear blade. I want a good quality that will last and have narrowed it down to a few.
I have a driveway in excess of 3/4 mile. Sandy based soil. I'm tired of using the box blade and feel a blade would do better, save me time and I just want one.
Brands and pricing quoted less taxes. All 6 ft with no accessories. Looked within a 90 mile radius of Bainbridge Ga. (Delivery extra)
Woods HBL72 for 1375.00
Land Pride RBT 3573 1502.00
Bush hog 70 series 1399.99
I do not mind driving to pick the blade up or pay shipping but would like to know are these prices in line? If anyone knows of better pricing let me know where please.

I bought one of these recently. I fully recommend the company and the product. I will weld onto the cheaper model I have a retractable stand or support for when it is not on the 3-point hitch. Why is the box blade coming up short for driveway maintenance for you? I think if you're looking for a blade to do a "better" job, you're going to be disappointed. Since I got a box blade, I rarely use my straight blade for anything but snow.

BTW, I paid $329 new for the KK 72" blade... it's not as heavy duty as the others but for what you're looking for it sounds like it'd be WAY more than enough. If you're going to spend big money on a 6' blade I'd go with a hydraulic angle.

IMO, the BEST implement to maintain a drive is one of these. Rear blades have their place just as box blades and landscape rakes do. But none of those compare to a grading scraper when it comes to maintenance. Trust me, I have them all.

One last thing, if you get a rear blade, you will be happier with a 7 footer. I hope to get a Land Pride RBT3584 one of these days for my Mahindra 3215. :drool: Don't forget the skid shoes for whatever rear blade you get if you go that way.

I would go with the Woods HBL72. I was thinking they were around $1200. If it doesn't have to be quick hitch compatible look at a Monroe Tufline GB4-72. It is made similiar to the Woods HBL blades.

The Everything Attachments extreme duty blade would also be nice for your tractor. It is less $$$$ than the others.

One of the blades I have my eye on is the LandPride rbt3584 although it's alot more than your number. I like the idea of being able to easily add the hydraulic angle later (or more).

The heaviest ETA one looks okay, but I still think they could easily design it with mounting brackets for a possible cylinder as well. A friend has a home modified rear blade that does hydraulic angle and he strongly recommends at least that adjustment from the seat.

So for me the ETA is probably out of the running.

I have a Land Pride RB 3596 rear blade. Its used mainly for snow plowing since I got the Land Pride GS 2584 (grading scraper). There is simply no comparison - the grading scraper does such a better job on the driveway. There is no way I can control the rear blade and produce the results the scraper gives.

'Rhino" makes a very substantial and well engineered blade. Worth a look.
