How are they being smuggled in? Are they coming air freight, or are they being put on a truck in Mexico to dodge import restrictions?

I went to Cuba when it was open for tourists a few years back and I can tell you that even some "Cuban" cigars bought in Cuba are not "Cuban" but Dominican Republic imitations.

If you have Gmail you have unlimited email addresses, youremailaddress+<whateveryouwant>_AT_gmail.com
Replace <whateveryouwant> with whatever text you want and you have a custom email address that will go back to your "normal" one.

Well, not really "unlimited", millions have already been taken.
Also, keep in mind that gmail is adopting some new log-in protocol end of the month, one that won't work with many email clients. I had to find something other than Outlook 2010 for mine. Not sure how this will affect webmail login. They want you to "sign in with Google" now, whatever that means. Uhhh, no. Google already has its tentacles everywhere, last thing I want to do is give them even more info.

Yes unlimited, you can have unlimited "aliases" that go between the + sign and the @ sign and will all deliver to your existing inbox.

Having used Outlook at work, I find the Gmail web interface is 10x better.
You might try the GSSMO tool, not sure if that only works on paid accounts though: Download Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft® Outlook® - Google
The sign in with Google should improve security vs a standard connection.
