Rant on shipping

7:45 AM. We just got yesterday's mail delivery. I want William DeJoy to drive our rural route. The mail service is falling apart (again) just in time for the May primary election. We vote by mail here.

We keep getting mail from across town that takes 2 weeks to show up.
Supposedly Fedex will have my package here today, only a week late.
I guess it was just resting for a few days and contemplating reality

Something is goofy at my local UPS hub. This is about the fifth time something like this has happened.

Package was scanned in there early Tuesday morning. It's Surepost, so it will go to the local Post Office. In the past, it would have gone out Tuesday, been dropped at the PO Tuesday and been delivered to my mailbox today.

It sat there all day yesterday and isn't scheduled to go out of the hub to the PO until tomorrow which means I'll get it Friday. I don't understand why it travels across country in less than a day, then takes 3-4 days locally.

Other recent packages I posted about previously would arrive at the hub early Friday, but not move until Tuesday.

FedEx frequently mis-delivers my packages to other places down the road. UPS always gets it right.

When I really need something I ship to Hospital work address...

Have to saying having both Fed and UPS cell numbers good when expecting tissue or corneas...

My payback is getting them in and out ASAP...

Post Office is odd... not unusual to get regular mail 9 pm on a Saturday night since route has no assigned carrier.

Same reason people of color can't get ID's

I don't know, ask a liberal.

If people in rural areas can get to the polls 10 - 15 miles away, why can't people of color in cities make it 1.5 miles across town to vote?
I'm more concerned about poor people, the elderly, and the infirm. Walking 1.5 miles would be more than many of my friends can manage. Heck, standing in a voting booth is more than some of my friends can manage. It shocks me to see pictures of people actually standing in line to vote. It's no wonder so few actually do it.

Definitely. We need a SECURE unhackable way to vote by email. Stop this requiring physical presence at a voting booth.
Email would be good...

I have 5 Email accounts now & more are really easy to get.

I placed an order with Cabelas Saturday AM. Monday the confirmation said it would be here tomorrow. It was delivered yesterday. I guess I can’t complain about THAT!

SurePost is not a priority, If the package was a priority you would have used UPS Next day. You, or the vendor (indirectly you) save money using the SurePost. Because it is kind of like flying standby.. Works great except when things are busy, and you get to spend Thanksgiving Weekend in three different airports, and still not actually make it home.

When I wrote SECURE unhackable I meant something with the security better than your online banking and limited to one vote per qualified person. Like registering your retinas and using them for ID.

We cant even get photo id's through most states to vote so how could we possibly get retina id's?

Really - not even a photo on your drivers license?
Let's not get too political but...

Really, we had to show id's in NH when it was passed 6 years ago but it was challenged and struck down. I know that MA and RI also don't have to show a photo id to vote.

Apparently in your location some people need help to vote so somebody else has to vote for them.

I only have 3 so you would be able to vote twice more than I could. o_O
I'm not sure how many I have. 3 that I can think of, but I may also have a GMail account which I can't even remember how to access.

I think I have nine different emails, and could get five more from the current ISP for $10/month.
