Ran a mini excavator yesterday, first time.

I’ve sat on them and played around for a few minutes in the past but this was the first time actually doing work. I helped put in field tile yesterday for a friend, we know someone that does it for a living. I’ve done a lot of construction staking in the past so I spent most of the time running the rod from a rotary laser. The owner of the machine had me hop on it to backfill the trench. I ran it about a half hour, it’s one of those things that’s easy to at catch on to but I’d guess it takes a few hundred hours to start to get good. Would have been a great day except for the gnats. I’m the guy in the ditch in the second picture.

Nice machine. I had the opportunity to dig foundations for custom homes with a mini-ex on a few occasions. It was great fun, they are amazing.
