Looking to replace my 6000 BTU window unit and I want the quietest one money can buy. Who makes such a one?

ductless mini split 0 noise
If you are looking for a window unit as you said instead of a split system, I have a couple words of advice.
Most of the modern compressors are a lot quieter than they used to be and it is the fan motor that makes most of the noise. Definitely do not get a unit that has a regular fan blade in front. Make sure it is a squirrel cage type blade as they are much quieter. Some of the rare larger units with large squirrel
cages usually have a quieter, slower rpm motor than the compact units that have a small blade
operating at high rpms.
Makes aren't nearly as important as they used to be because most of the units are made in Asia under contract and the same make may be made by 2 or 3 different manufacturers in any given year. Generally, larger, heavier models of the same btu are quieter.
I don't have anything to add, but am interested in your outcome.
BTW, don't most guy's wives want the noisiest system to drown out the snoring? Just kidding...
How much did it cost if I may ask?
Thanks C4Ranch! That's in the same area I was quoted for a Mitsubishi unit for two rooms. The sales guy brought out a demo unit and you couldn't hear it run on low, and it was like a whisper on high. Having trouble hearing on the phone without the A/C running, much less when it's grinding away. Thanks to all who replied!Don't mind ha asking. YMMV, but I had a GREE 4 zone installed with heat pump. They had to travel 120 miles to my place for install and did all the lineset covers and custom fit the line length so nice clean install. $5,760 and let me put on credit card for the points.
How long ago did you have it installed? That seems like a very reasonable price. We had the Mitsubishi unit installed in our sunroom. You cannot hear it running. It keeps the 12 x 24 sunroom cool and also keeps the 16x18 utility room cool. This is amazing to me since there is only a 3' door connecting the rooms and it is as far away from the unit as possible. It was $3500 installed, expensive, but worth the money. As I said above you cannot hear it running.
We repainted all the sunroom window frames last fall. There are thirteen windows. It was 90+ outside and inside and all windows were open. We turned the unit on, installed the handles, and cranked all the windows closed. It was cool within ten minutes.
Worth the money.
