quick hitch

I am new to all of this....I saw the link but not sure what they do. I thought the pins on my implment just sit in the QH??? do you you have a picture of them in use?

I don't personally Scotty because I will probably not be using mine but the 7/8 pin on the attachments will just slop around in the QH the 1 1/8 bushings fit tight, search around here you will find some I am sure.

I have used mine w/o the bushings it will work but its pretty sloppy the bushings fit nice and tight and make it a pretty solid mount.

Yeah I went to a lot of work building adapters etc and then come to find out my driveshaft is too short now on my tiller.

A pto extender at Tractor Supply is only about $20. Or you could add a slip clutch. Or overrun 'clutch' (ratchet).

I remeasured mine. The QH is 27 3/8" and the back blade is 27 1/2". I will have to change out the lift pins as they have a bevel to them as well. I think I might be able to bend or grind to make up the 1/8 to 1/4" I need to gain...????

A Hi-Lift jack ('Farm Jack' at HF) can adjust it.

Thanks California that may save me because the pats will be about as far back as the QH is and I already have the overrun so I would probably still have issues w/o something like that I appreciate the tip! :thumbsup:

Welcome! and yeah once all is said and done there can be quite an investment not saying its a bad thing because they do work nice its just getting one thing to do it all now we all buy these things and start figuring this out crappy advertising and incomplete packaging suckers a lot of us in.

I talked to a guy at Speeco after the fact and theirs is quite a bit more than HF BUT it comes with the bushings and the roll pins and decent instructions so we would be better off buying one of them looking back......

No need to spend that kind of money, look to the right of the high dollar bushings to the $2 bushings. Depending on the size of your lower pins these just slip on and fill the gap nicely. Of course they must be kept captive on the pins. Also if you have the extra short pipe that comes with most ceiling fans just cut them to length and they will work fine.

The HF one I got a couple of weeks ago fit my J-Bar back blade just fine, I put the old brush hog on today and had to reverse the pins, was useable, but I will have to spend some time on the drill press to make fit right. I also reversed the pins on the HF finish mower, and it looks like "with the tape" will fit. I am taking the tractor to Coldwater next week to pick up a rototiller, and I hope that it will work with the quick hitch.

I made my implements and my quick hitch a couple of years ago, therefore I had no excuse for them not fitting perfectly, but they all did not.:ashamed: However, since I learned that there was a standard and I subsequently followed it when modifying the implements, things have been much better.:thumbsup: (I have noticed that someone is now importing and selling a QH like the HF one here for $180.)

My rollover got a new mast because it looks better; the RB's top pin had to be relocated a half an inch. On the scoop I had the same problem as what was mentioned previously with the frame blocking the pins--I cut the upper frame from the lower and moved it outboard to expose the pins While I was at it I also made a trip dump linkage for the scoop too.

My point is this--a few hours work conforming the implements is nothing compared to the ease and speed with which I can now change from one to another. I would not want to go back to pre QH days.

I was beginning to question the purchase of my HF quick hitch I bought a few weeks ago because it wouldn't fit my box blade. I came to find out though that the QH wasn't the problem. The box blade I bought last year is a 4' County Line from TSC and once I looked into it I discovered it was a so-called "Cat 1" box blade but has Cat 0 spacing...so it wouldn't fit the 27-1/2 spacing on the HF QH. In order to make it fit I had to buy "extra-long" (6-1/2") draw pins, add spacers and also add the couplers.

I also can't just drop it down and pull out from it because of the box blades design, but I devised a way to where I now just pull a couple of pins so the top hook swivels and then I can drop it down and pull out. I love it now and the couplers really do make a big difference.

I am on the same page as MJPeterson. I had to do considerable work to get my implements to fit and work properly on the quick hitch but the end reward is worth it to me. During this gardening season I change implements often.
