I've seen a number of posts here talking about modifying implements to be compatible with a quick hitch and I'm looking for more information on that topic.
I have a Bush Hog backblade that is compatible and in the summer around here, I need to change out that blade with a splitter and an older York rake that aren't.
If I bought a quick hitch, what modifications would I need to make to the rake and splitter to make them compatible? Is it as simple as welding on or relocating new lift pins? Spacers?
I don't want to buy the quick hitch in hopes of making it work only to learn that I bought it for nothing. Where can I find a drawing that depicts the "standard" dimensions of the quick hitch features?
Thanks in advance for replies...my machine is a Kubota L4400.

The Harbor Freight version is 27-1/2" between the lift pins. Any of your implement pin spans that are wider than that would have to be modified. I have removed the top hook from mine and replaced it with an adapter bracket. I fabricated mine but they can be ordered from Harbor Freight. That bracket makes the lift much more versatile. If you change implements as regular as I do it is well worth it. You can go to Harbor Freight sight and look at the pdf file that shows the adapter bracket. There are many posts on this subject if you search under quick hitch. I'm not advertising for Harbor Freight. Just think for the money you can't beat it. You can go to Landpride website and look at deminsions on their quick hitch.

I have the harbor freight qa as well ....with the additional adapter that replaces the top hook. If I had to do it over ....I might have gone with the Pat's easy change system. It's more money up front but you don't have to modify any implements or when buying implements, be limited on what you're buying / worry about them fitting.

My opinion is to forget the quick hitch with the set dimensions. Had two and sold them both. For them to be "quick" requires a narrow set of circumstances and measurements.

The Pat's will allow you to hook up any odd sized attachments with lift pins both quickly and easily. The Pat's system is well worth the money.

The only issue is that the lift point will be extended 3 - 4" so the PTO shaft and top link have to be able to extend enough to bridge the difference from the stock mounting.

I dont think the pats quick hitch will fit the L4400 that the OP has. The Pats system has to have aprox. 4" of straight arm of which the L4400 does not have. If some one has actually tried a pats system on a L4400 let us all know but I know that the L4400 does not have 4" of staight arm that is speced on the pats site.

It is a crap shoot which CAT-I quick hitch fits CAT-I implements.

Unfortunately only CAT-II and larger are actually standardized.:)

Here are the ASAE CAT1 standard dimensions that QH's use. I have modded a few things to fit my iMatch, and every one was different. You just need to figure out what needs to be done to get it to work-most of the time it's the toplink pin that is really far off.

Once you get your stuff to fit, it will always be a pleasure to attach impalement's to you 3PH.

If you search the term "asae" and "imatch" you can read LOTS of threads about this.

I have everything converted to IMatch except my boxblade ( haven't taken the time yet to modify it) and most were simple modifications. Once you have them fit it is clearly the easiest to hook up. Makes switching between implements fun almost.

On the quick hitch I have the center or top link is 15 inches above the horisontal line between the lower link pins, a standard implement is 18 inches, so you need to be able to drill or modify to make this change. Most lower pins on Cat 1 implements will fit but there are some that need modifying, you need the shoulders of the pins to fit inside the quick hitch hooks, the other important thing is clearance to allow the hooks to raise beneath the pins top link and lower links inclusive. I think once you see it work and study it a bit will help clarify this for you.
