I have a DK4510 on order with a local dealer (with a $1500 deposit). A dealer in another state has a DK5010 (both standard tranny) IN STOCK!

Should I jump ship and request my deposit back? I am guessing that would pretty well burn that bridge for any warranty work. I do my own maintenance, but not major repairs. There is another dealer a little farther away. Am considering calling him and asking him his attitude about warranty for a tractor purchased elsewhere.

Its been 2 months with no machines in sight.

I also sold my tractor with a contingency that the buyers would have to wait for my new tractor to arrive.

Is this a d#%k move?

I would ask the dealer that has your deposit for a firm date. If he cannot give you a delivery date then IMHO you should be free to move on. There might be a better solution though... can't they do a dealer transfer of the DK5010 to "your" dealer?

It's interesting times that we live in. First it was the furniture stores not stocking anything. Order only. Then it was the major appliance dealers not stocking much. But we can order and maybe have it in two weeks. I call BS. My money stays in my pocket until I can lay hands on what ever I want to buy. If possible, I would get the deposit back and go buy the tractor that actually exists somewhere other than on paper. They may fuss if there is a warranty claim. A call to the regional sales manager usually gets that attitude fixed quickly. I've done it in the past with cars and pick-ups.

I waited 4 months with a $1000 deposit on a ck2610. Delivery date kept getting pushed back and nothing was firm. Not the dealers fault as they were trying. Even tried a stock transfer but were unsuccessful.

I found an in stock unit about a 5 hour drive away. Asked the dealer for my deposit back. Their response was “I completely understand why you’re going elsewhere,” returned my deposit and I set out with the trailer to collect the new tractor.

there was no hard feelings

Talk to your dealer on the details. Buy accessories from them.

When I make a deal it is a done deal. I stop looking. If I found out about one available I might would ask the dealer if he could do a transfer and if not I would just wait.

I had a similar issue buying my Massey 2850M.

I was able to work out a deal that got the tractor transferred from the other dealer to my local dealer.

My issue is with trying to get dealers to even call or email back with a price to order. Contacted six dealers this week and only had one respond, two hours away.
I guess since they sale everything they get within a day they don't need to worry about new customers.
