Purchase dilemma

Strange times, for sure. Every time I drive into Spokane I go right past the local JD dealership( Pape Machinery). I'm just amazed how many compact, subcompact, utility & large tractors he has in his lot. From the smallest to really large ones.

Last time I was at the Kubota dealer, about a month ago - EXACTLY three units on his lot - all three were sold. Not expecting any more until mid to late September.

When I bought my Kubota - the exact tractor I wanted was on his lot. It was delivered the next day.

I'm just glad I'm not trying to swing a new tractor deal in these times.

The nation-wide supply/delivery systems are in the toilet. I don't think anybody is to blame, but everybody is sure hurting.

When I make a deal it is a done deal. I stop looking. If I found out about one available I might would ask the dealer if he could do a transfer and if not I would just wait.
I would go for the bird in the hand,,,,,,the other dealer.... NOW!
I agree in principle with @K5lwq, a deal is a deal, I also try to deal locally, and try to deal with independent owners where possible, but these are unusual times. When I began looking for a tractor in March, my local JD dealer kept saying he could order whatever I wanted. We negotiated and came up with a quote. When pressed, he finally told me that I probably would not get my tractor until October. We didn't have a "deal" yet, but likely would have if he hadn't been completely honest with me. The supply chain is still a mess. I think that @TmbrWlkr should try to arrange a dealer transfer, but if he cannot get a firm delivery date on the tractor he ordered, then there is no "done deal". A bonafide deal includes an agreed to delivery date.

I will pursue the dealer transfer concept.

UPDATE - after informing the dealer that I may be buying out of state, and needing him to return my deposit, he got Kioti to commit to delivering a DK5010 in 5 weeks - +$1,600 to the bottom line - fine with me. He is also $2,000 lower than the out of state dealer. Win-win!!

Well that is a fine way to solve a dilemma.
Good deal! (y)

IF Kioti follows through..... Otherwise.....

I've a really large Kubota dealer near me and they have a pretty good stock of a lot of tractors, even now.... some of the other dealers, not so much. Hope you get it.

Delivered my L3400 to the private buyer and received a bank check 😊. My machine is at the dealer (Dk5010) - but - one of the rear remotes is MIA from Kioti.

Going around with my salesman today we arrived at the following scenario: I will take delivery (maybe tomorrow ) but will wait for the 2nd remote and rim guard ( as they need to remove rear tires for remote installation and don’t expect the techs to wrestle loaded tires unnecessarily). I don’t have an ETA on the 2nd remote, but looks like I will be finding out what a tractor with unballasted tires handles like.

I've been running my tractor for twenty years with no ballast. Even plowing with it when the conditions are right. In fact, I was just thinking the other day about how much damage I could do if the tires grabbed any better than they do. I already spent over $5000 having one of the little planetary drive gears for the left side replaced. Unless the tractor is built very stout, I would not ballast the tires on the smaller utility tractors.

My rears have been loaded for 20 years, never an issue.
