I'm doing service on my RTVX-1100C which requires pulling the rear skid plate to change the engine oil. This time I figured it would be a good idea to drop the front skid plate and clean it. Good thing I did because there was probably 50# of mud on top of it that can't be removed unless the skid plate is pulled. I'll spray water and clean the chassis while it's off.

I'm also changing the hydraulic tank oil and trans oil. I'm using the synthetic Kubota UDT2 trans oil. Pretty expensive at $125 for 5 gallons but supposed to provide better performance and temperature protection. I use the Kubota 15w40 oil in the engine.

It seems like the synthetic trans fluid is making a difference in performance. In one stretch of the pasture I usually can barely get up to 21 mph, after the fluid change I can easily hit 24 and got 25mph before I had to slow down. The trans response seems crisper, too, where it was a little sluggish.

I have pulled a few of mine in the past and found the same thing...Need to do it again and paint up some of that stuff...Snow plowing is my rust enemy (at least it hasn't really kicked in since I keep it indoors and clean--mostly)

To keep the rust at bay Fluid Film is tough to beat.....a quick coat and it won't rust. I use it on equipment and my trucks to combat the calcium they put down on the roads up here...works excellent and is very reasonable.
