My cousin worked with a guy years ago cutting Cedar here in Maine. The guy had a " power trailer" it had a 3 speed transmission on it and it was powered by the pto of a Farmall Super "M". once you had the Farmall running just put the pto in gear you could take the Farmall out of gear and the power trailer would push the tractor out of the woodlot while heavily loaded it self. I think he told me that if you wanted to do this they used 2nd gear? But the main purpose was to " assist" the tractor with traction and power while moving a heavy load. He said that of the two units he wish's he had the trailer still was the best woods unit he ever used.

I'd be more interested if I could get the English version. Ford had a ground speed PTO on some of their old tractors, possibly a Jubille or NAA model and if you connected the PTO shaft to the trailer drive train you had a trailer driven by the tractor. You would have to have the correct size tires on the trailer for the ratios to match.
