I'm surprised about no paperwork for the cutter - could it be missing due to the damaged shipment?

My Bransons came with booklets on the loaders and the mowers.

I did get the new longer pro shaft today from EA and a return shipping label to send back the shorter one . I can now take off the short pto extender and hopefully cut down on some of the noise . I won't know until next summer as winter is very close bye here in northern Maine so I will just store it in my shop for the winter .

pardon my asking, how much was it? what does it weigh?

Thanks for review. I'll be ordering one over the winter. Did you get the front and rear guards? I'd like to have the chain type because I know I'll bend the rear.

Thanks for this review, very interesting points all around.. Soon I hope to buy a 60 inch unit so looking around at different units. For several years we have borrowed a JD MX5 and my opinion is, the JD is a very good mower but also expensive. The owner was happy to lend it to us as it always came back lubed and clean ready for his use.. I did buy a new flail but we have areas I hate using it with low stumps and all so having a stump jumper is the way to go.
shipping is always a huge cost for us here on the west coast as most of this stuff comes from the east for some reason even though much of it is made in China.

Cons ,
1. No paper work at all for the cutter ,there was for the pto shaft , not a problem for me as i have used rotaty cutters in the past . There was no grease in any of the fittings and needed a little gear oil , slip clutch needed to be freed up , which a new person to this type of equipment might not know .
2. I could see no way possible to grease the knuckle next to slip clutch without taking the pto shaft and clutch assembly off as it was pointing right at the clutch assembly in tight quarters . If they had put the grease fitting in front it would not have been a problem .
3. PTO shaft was not long enough , i needed to use an extender for my M5700 Kubota , and i wasn't using a quick hitch .
4. Fedex handling of this cutter was really bad . It was sent out on a pallet which never made it to my place , just a broken piece on top of the deck . It was wrapped in plastic which was all torn . The cutter had several places of missing paint and a dent in the front portion where a pallet jack or what ever was used to move it around .

For the price you paid this is bad service. I would want a parts breakdown by part number and manufacturer for future repairs. You have to wonder if the designers of some of this equipment ever operates (and greases) similar equipment. I agree the manufacturer should have contacted you about the shaft length rather than you contacting them. Lastly I would put #4 on the shipper, not the shipping company if they just wrapped it in plastic and set it on a pallet. It is fairly common to ship something like this in a box crate.

I did not opt for the guards as my use for the cutter is away from people and buildings etc . The only thing I use it for is cutting my fields each year ,and once in awhile some light brush .

I have to agree a box type crate would have been much better for sure , just a cost factor I suppose. I have bought a roto tiller , and a wood max chipper which were both in a metal type crate , but were made out of this country so that's the reasoning for sure . I would buy from EA again , they are good people .

I bought a Brave wood splitter last year (made in Minnesota) and it came in a full wood box crate with everything secured. Zero damage. I do not understand why manufactures simply put something like that on a pallet with some shrink wrap on it. It is not just EA that does this. In any event, those cutters look well made, congratulations. Good buy.
