I had a new 1000gal propane tank installed and need to be able to connect my dual fuel generator to it. My generator has a 0-200psi regulator built into it so the 10psi from the 1st stage is well within the means of my generator. Please see attached picture. I need to go from the 3/4" pipe to a QCC that grills use. Does anyone know what that fitting might be called or a link to one?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

We’d need to know the BTUs of the generator to properly size the QD. They aren’t all created equal. Most come as a matched set and they typically won’t have 3/4” threads. They will probably have 3/8 or 1/2” threads. The QDs should be UL listed for gas. They are a fairly common item.

Not trying to not pick but it looks like the install thus far needs some help. The galvanized fittings aren’t the best in a gas system (especially near the QD) and the black pipe should be painted.

In looking at that shutoff on the right a brass or stainless bushing reducer will get you from the 3/4” down to the 1/2 or 3/8” needed for the QD.

A Qd may not provide enough flow for your generator as most have a smaller orifice than the ID of the hose. What info on this is in the manual with it. You may need to review with the manufactuer of the generator.

I am getting ready to convert my 17.5 KW generator to NG. The kit, for the distance I have to run, takes a 1" pipe. Disconnect will be a union.

The manual doesn’t list the BTUs but I’m assuming it’s less than a BBQ- which is typically fairly high....watch me be wrong!
Anyway the “High Pressure” fittings is what you want. The “low pressure” fittings are only rated to 5 PSI.

Good luck! Give these folks a call. They may have more info for you.

With your generator having a regulator designed to handle tank pressure have you considered that you might be better served by a dedicated high pressure line and connection for the generator and not tee'ing from your primary regulator.
