Here's how I did mine, 6x6 posts 6' on ctr outside load bearing beams are tripple laminated 2 @ 2x6 and 1@ 2x8 posts are notched to recieve the 2 @2x6, Bolted thru with hot dip galvo bolts.
the 2x8 also gives me the O/s nailing surface for the Board/Batton
