pole barn concrete slab

/ pole barn concrete slab #21
I'm having trouble locating plastic 3" rebar chairs. the local concrete supplier / brickyard only has 3" in metal, and they are expensive, over $1 each compared to about $.12 for 2" plastic chairs.

Check with hardware store for the plastic chairs. My local Menards has them.

Worst case, pick up some of the 1"x8"x16" concrete bricks. Break them into pieces and set the 2" chairs on top of them.

The 2" ones would be perfect anyway, you don't really need 3".

pretty much what I was thinking about doing, put something under 2" ones.
don't have menards here, looked online, etc...
I did find one Lowes with a few 2" ones in stock.

thanks!

I plan to line the pole barn interior with steel panels. So I'll have interior girts. Can I put use an interior skirt board and pour concrete floor up to that vs pouring concrete between posts up to exterior skirt board before installing interior steel panels.??

Watch a few You Tube videos from RR Builders. They install a skirt board both inside and outside the poles and install insulation in the cavity before installing interior metal walls. The slab is poured against the 2 x 8 interior skirt board halfway up thus insulating the slab perimeter.

Got several posts into this before I realized it was 11 years old. Zombie thread.

We're doing this same thing this summer in our pole barn. Finally.

Best thing I ever did was add the concrete. Now for electric.

Did you do floor heat or electric conduit in floor?

Not me, I still don’t have electric in the barn except for an extension cord.

I'm putting a floor in my pole barn this year, also. I'll be putting PEX in for floor heat, but I'm not positive I'll be heating it that way. I can't add it later...
