For those who haven't dropped by the thread below before.... Daugen headed out on an extended RV trip with a brand new Winnebago, and encountered significant problems with factory support.

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/rural-living/297977-head-west-not-so-young.html

It's a great story in that thread, and many of us had settled in for a good long read, and take a virtual vacation ! (OK, so maybe I'm not just trying to help Daugen here ;) ).

If you are not presently active in the thread above, can you please take a minute, drop by the thread, post a note that says "Winnebago Itasca 27N - Subscribed", and whatever other supporting comments you'd like to make.

Edit - it wouldn't hurt for those of us already active in the thread to make the same post.

(You can use Thread Tools to subscribe, but it will help the cause more if you explicity post).

The goal is to show Drew some further TBN support, and raise the profile with both Winnebago and Google.

Rgds, D.

Winnebago Itasca 27N - Subscribed

Bump.

Mods - any chance of making this a Sticky, until Daugen gets this issue addressed properly ?

I'm watching Drews trip and now his troubles as I am an RV owner and will be trading in at the end of this year.
Time will tell if Winni/iItasca will stay on my list.

If you haven't already, make sure to read the recent "helpful" response from the Winni executive, in the original thread.

Thank you Dave, I have and it is unexceptable in this day and age.
The manufacturer of my rig is out of business and I've long respected Winni but that has dropped during his trip and the lack of response he's received.
I'm looking at replacing my 07 gasser with a DP and when one spends what some spend on a house on a rig, you expect good service, at least in the first year. Very disappointing indeed.

Well, my analysis says.. Daugen and 2 other RV's he's seen recently with same problem = very widespread, high failure rate Electrical/motor problem likely (almost certainly) caused by slide mechanism binding = Winnebago design/manufacture quality problem, not motor manufacture per se. Responsible action from Winnebago would be to understand problem source, not just replace the motor, then issue recall letter to all affected owners and fix true problem. The problem, based on Daughen's experience is clear and present yet unrecognized/not admitted by multiple dealers or service even though all motor inventory is exhausted. Winnebago service is totally unsatisfactory, given wait times, hang ups for both customers and DEALERS. Daugen appreciates the support....we'll all be watching to see how the problem is finally resolved.

I helped a friend change a main power solenoid on his diesel pusher tonight.

He runs a good-sized commercial shop, and rebuilds older RVs once in a while. He'll use a unit for a season or 2 himself, partly for recreation, and in a large part because he doesn't want to pass along a renovated unit to a customer w/o making sure it was thoroughly shaken down. His reputation (mechanical skills together with honesty) means that he never has an issue selling any RV he has overhauled.

I knew that, before following Daugen's thread. Given the early life problems Daugen and others have experienced with these Winni's, I have a whole new appreciation for why my friend's RV's sell so fast, once he's done with them.
