Richard,

I am so sorry for your loss. This is the first time I've cried in a lot of years. My heart goes out to you and your family.

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( Ok, now on to getting even. Trail cams, claymore's (sp), deep pits inviting a drive through, roofing nails, Bouncing Betty's and such come to mind.
)</font>

Hoosier..

I've been in more talks with TVA. They want to block off the other entrance to woods to keep these slimes from driving back there. (the lazy hunters that want to park 25 feet from their blind, the dudes who want to 4-wheel truck in there and the dudes who want to ATV in there... ALL moterized vehicles are illegal but TVA has dropped the ball on enforcement).

Back to point

I told Mr. TVA that to plug 2 entrances to a playground will only cause the lawbreakers to cut more entrances TO the playground. He agreed. I said "why don't we take 20/40/60 more tons of rocks and BLOCK the roads INSIDE the playground and in addition cut trenches on their paths to essentially disassemble it?"

(he was thinking of ONLY putting a trench on the other entrance)

He admitted that disassembling the playground would be a harder hit on them and is taking my idea to his boss.

I told him they could hire me for $1.00. He said his accounting dept would call him in a heartbeat saying "what's with this $1.00 charge? dont' you know it costs us $50.00 to simply write the check?"

I told him if he felt compelled to pay me $10,000 I'd happily accept it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He understand my point though that I want to do what I can do and am willing to help.

wow... I just got done reading the last 30 or so responses...

not sure if I want to "answer" any of the confrontational ones, as I do not want to heighten the mood here AND I notice others have in essense, stood up for me and for that, I am grateful. (that others have seen my angle).

Richard,
Our hearts go out to you. I'm always saddened by the cruelty we witness in the world. Our pets are like family and we take their wellbeing to heart. My constant companion "Dually" is like a son and best friend to me. The thought of someone causing him harm boils my blood.

Regarding the confrontational posts:
I'm an avid hunter and consider others like myself to be "ambassadors" of the sport. This crime torques me in two ways. One, the cruelty to the innocent pets and two, that someone has slandered our sport by shooting two animals while under the guise of hunting. I have no tolerance for those that hunt unethically, unsafely or commit poaching or slaughter. It's our duty as "ambassadors" to make sure "Joe Public" has a favorable impression of our sport. This includes treating the game with respect, leaving no trace of our activities on the land and respecting the landowners and general public. It hacks me off when I see someone wearing camo doing something distasteful or a bloodied animal tied to a roof rack. These are images that implant a negative opinion of our sport.

I don't believe you're vendetta is aimed at the hunters, as we share your outrage. The idiot(s) that committed this atrocity are not hunters, they're criminals, plain and simple. Any true hunter, would turn them in to the authorities.

gsganzer...

I must say you hit my feelings right on the head. I had a 3 page book written to try to say what you did in your one paragraph about Ambassadors.

Now with that (your paragraph) said, I will go re-read my book cut it down and "maybe" post a comment of it.

I don't want to turn this thread into a pro/con/other regarding hunting/hunters/Atv'ers/other...because that is not what it (nor myself) is really about. It's about, as you so said, criminals that CALL themselves by other names.

First my condolences to you.

I wish not to disrespect anyone, or trample on feeling so present in this dicsussion about what happended.

Richard you stated -

Perhaps this offers an angle on llegal aspect of dealing with the TVA. By not "enforcing" or "checking" their lands, they are placing a hardship on you. I think you should persue this
enforcement issue with a vengence until they fix their problem.

-I wish you the best.

Sorry about your loss. I think I would have to help the next truck that gets stuck back in the trail. You know adding a little weight to the bed should help for traction (I figure about 5 or 6 tons should really help the truck get traction!!!!! I really admire how you are taking a stance to prevent this from happening again. People who are actually enjoying the land by walking the trails will probably like the boulders as the kids can play on them and they make for great pictures.
I would also put a nice ditch along both sides of the road (for drainage purposes) and if they are a deterent then so be it. Put a small foot bridge for the actual people who want to use the trails for hiking.
I would have to echo some of the others comments about keeping the dogs on your own property. I have a neighbor who has 3 large dogs in a fenced yard (fence ready to fall down). They bark constantly at my 7 year old daughter when she is outside. She is even scared to go to the back of our lot on the trails because she is afraid they will get out and come after her. They have gotten out once all ready. I have warned the neighbor about the dogs. I am an animal lover, but I love my daughter more.

As Richard said in a previous post, this thread shouldn't turn into a political argument over hunter ethics. As far as I'm concerned Richard hasn't done anything, by closing off the trail to motorized vehicles, that prevents law abiding hunters from accessing the TVA property as TVA allows (no motorized vehicles).

If someone wants to start a new thread regarding hunting ethics, I'm sure a few thousand of us will be happy to post our views and responses.

Richard, I honestly do not continue to be offended. The only thing I don't like is to be grouped with those types. I don't mean to be argumentative at all. I just do not feel that it can be justified to call them Sportsmen or hunters just because that is how they refer to them selves. There are many criminals in Prison who no doubt see themselves as innocent victims of society. That does not make them such and most of us just call them what they are. Criminals. I do not want to see this strand digress any more than I want to see wanton discrimination. Now as far as takeing this up with the slime balls, Believe me, If I caught them I would. I am indeed sorry you have to endure this. Its unpleasant. Best Wishes catching the scoundrels. Dave

I would call my insurance agent about liability insurance on my tractor if I was going to be doing what you're doing and the work you will be doing for the TVA. The insurance isn't that much ( I would get insurance for dirt contracting and NOT tell them I was blocking roads and paths!). The TVA might insist on you having insurance papers on file. If somebody zips down a trail they have used all their life on a dirt bike or an ATV and hits a boulder they are going to sue someone. You might as well CYA.

Dear Richard...

Just read this string and my sincerest regards to u and yours!!!!I've worked for TVA many a time and wish i'd been up on that property setting those 3 piece 110' steel poles as there is plenty of room in the bottom of one of them to fit a scumball like this!!!!

I love to hunt and just so u know...I read "the whole string" and read your "hunter disclaimer" and i think htat u have done a fine job in protecting the rights of all of us here ......I sometimes wish that we had the good-ol days again where justice really prevailed /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Again i am so sorry for your loss!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thank you sir... and sadly, they've already constructed those 110' tall towers (around here), so hiding "anything' there isn't an option /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I was however, amused by entertaining the thought.
