Again, thanks for all who have expressed sypmathies. Posting here has been somewhat therepeutic for me, not to mentioned wearing out my fingers typing.

I'm not going to post any more of their pics here, but might post updates on my "rock garden" project from time to time if/as it developes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"Johnny Appleseed" ain't got NOTHING on what I intend to plant around here (though in rocks) given permission to do so.

I would think the TVA would have like a 1000' ft buffer zone where the TVA property borders private residental property that hunters etc...would not be allowed in.But it probably would not keep the trouble makers away, since they have no regard or respect for anyone but themselves(I guess they probably do not respect themselves or they would not stoop that low, must be a low self esteem problem ?)

I'd bet it's more like they have "little mans syndrome", and I do NOT mean height... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have read this post from the beginning, and have not known the words to write.

As I played with Allison and A.J. (Our Golden Retrievers) today, I had tear in my eyes. We walked around the property, me showing them there boundaries. They have always stayed in the yard very well.

I am so saddened by this story, sorry, I can't say anymore.

Richard

This post stuck a particular nerve in me. My wife and I went up to our land during hunting season to do work. We brought our dog Wally, who is big and has the coloration of a deer. My wife made a blaze orange vest for the dog to wear. We could hear the rifle shots in the mountains around us. Wally loves to run, but we would not let him out of our sight. We feared for his safety the whole time we were there.
Dogs are, in my opinion, the most domesticated of animals. Because of this, in my opinion, humans have the responsibilty to care for them. Dogs devote themselves unquestionably to their owners, like a child to their parent. Most dog owners feel a responsibility for what happens to their dog. It is an awful feeling when something happens to our dogs.
It is perhaps the Native American blood in me, but I feel that hunters should respect their prey. Many do. Some don't.
Take this in the spirit it is given. As one who sees inhumanity on a daily basis, do not let them take your humanity. Keep your perspective.

Richard, I am indeed sorry for your loss. My take is a bit different from others. While reading this strand I bounce from empathy to anger against you. In point of fact I feel you owe many of us that hunt legally and would never do such a thing an apology. Your anger does not justify grouping people in such a discriminatory way. You say this is not against hunters or is not political. Because of your loss I am certainly willing to accept that but I will leave you these thoughts. Any person who shoots any animal from any motorized vehicle unlawfully is not a hunter, they are poachers. I do not know if the dogs were on your property. I can say over the years I have known many people who let their animals out to run free off their own land. As owners of these trusting souls it is our responsibility to assure that they do not run freely or wild on state land or others property. While I am again, Always sorry for their loss I am often left wondering what they expected to happen eventualy. There have always been people in the world of low moral character. Our prisons are full of theese types. I would kindly ask that you stop refering to this low life scum as hunters. When you refer to theese individuals this way you yourself become as offensive to me as the person who shot your dog is to you. Best wishes catching the vermin. Dave

In his early posts Richard was very clear that he did not blame hunters and in facct defined who he was mad at and why. I do not think that he has in anyway slighted or complained about hunters in general.

Acts like this that cannot be shown to be caued by a very small minority are why our public lands use is in jepordy. We as hunters and users of public lands have the responcibility to police the use of and infact make sure that we use these lands properly or we may lose the right to do so.

Sorry for your loss Richard. I have a Lab mix that loves to dig as well. I don't believe I could contain myself as well as you have. I commend you and your efforts.

It's not about hunters, it's not even about bad hunters. Its about bad people with no morales.

Good luck and god bless.

My, my what an arogant stance,

As you don't know me or know if I hunt or not I think you might want to reconcider that last post.

I think you protest too much.

I am sorry you feel that way. I am really POd about being grouped with criminals. There is no way to justify any crusade against a entire group of people just because of the actions of a single low life. If I am arrogant for speaking my mind so be it. I understand Richards loss, Pain and anger. I do not understand the need to slander others to promote a self declared war. This hardly seems the place for such offensive language or topics. All I have asked is that we stop nameing criminals as hunters. If this indeed is non political I fail to see why any one would have any reservations about this. Dave

I'm sorry that you feel this way, I am also sorry that you need to hijack a string from Richard when he is in pain and grief for state your political agenda.

I might point out that non hunting people have rights just as the hunting population does.

As a side line here, it is MUCH more likely that it was some person hunting than drug dealers or terrorists, although these type of people and the acts that they commit are atrocious.

Have a great day, and new year.

I Think at this juncture we are both Hijacking and showing poor form. I am certain that I never suggested those who might have strong feelings against hunting do not have rights. I hope those rights do not extend to false statements accusations or other vengeful innuendos any more than I would Hope those are pro hunting would take a similar tact. All I have asked is that we respect each other and drop the labels. Its a simple, polite and respectful which offers far more respect and restraint than has been shown by others. Dave

Actually what you just said was what you should have stated at the first.

I agree that we are both showing bad form.

I have said what I was going to say.

Have a good day and a gread new year.

Perhaps you're right. These people should have been labeled:"People Who Go Into The Woods With Rifles During Hunting Season".
