Pickup Big Enough for BX?

Agree with the trailer needed, but one time on the interstate, I was passed by a dodge pickup with a BX and FEL in the bed. No MMM or BH, but it looked like a tight fit. The FEL was over the end gate.

If you can haul a BX in the bed of a 1/2 ton pick up then why can't you pull a trailer with a bx 0n it with that same truck ? ?

In 2003 I bought a new BX1500 with loader, MMM, and bagger attachment. I got everything but the bagger in the back of a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup. I had to come back for the bagger attachment. I raised the loader bucket up high and had the Kubota dealer pick up the tractor with a forklift and set it in the pickup bed with the loader bucket over the truck cab. I had to strap the back of the tractor down to the trailer hitch because the loader almost came down and hit the truck roof when hitting the pickups brakes. I got some interesting looks from those at the dealership when I was loaded up and heading home with my new tractor.

This one seems easy. He doesn't even have a truck so there's no reason to try and figure out how to stuff a pick-up with a tractor that is probably to big, if not too cumbersome. As mentioned, a u-haul will do the trick with ease and not much more expense. Or, even a small truck or SUV or Crown Vic for that matter could pull it on a basic and fairly small rented or borrowed utility trailer.

It appears that the BX by itself fits perfectly in the bed. It also seems that the bed would be too small for the BX to also have either the MMM or the 3ph mounted blower/bagger attached, and especially too small if both are on the tractor. Would you agree with this assessment?

Turned out I was able to get the seller to deliver the tractor on his trailer. I still had to drive the 800 miles to close the deal, but it was a sunny Saturday driving across the hills of Pennsylvania. Leaves were in full color. The reason UHaul wasn't used was simply price. They charge about $1/mile.

$1/ mile times 800 miles = $800.

Whenever I rented a truck for a long distance, I called all the truck rental companies and got the best deal, then I negotiated with the least expensive one for a better deal. You can't do this in the rental place, only by telephone. Once you get the best deal that you can do, you make the reservation with that person. All that is left to do is go to the rental yard and pick it up. The sales people on the phone work on a commission basis, so they never want to loose a deal. Make sure to always speak to the same person each time you call. A few years ago, I rented a truck one way 1200 miles and the total cost was $345, plus tax. No drop off fee either, since the truck was going to a area that needed trucks. All that they asked is that I deliver it to the dealer of there choice that wasn't too far from me. Dusty

It's 800 miles round trip:
He only needs to rent the truck one way which is 400 miles .
400 miles X $1.00 per mile = $400.00.

The bx2230 is a nice machine and the collection system works great. my wife is 'happy' her organic garden now has mulch. i'm happy because i like the color orange. life is good.

i will say though, there's no comparision between the bx2230 and the ck30.

There shouldn't be because they are in 2 different classess / Sub compact VS Compact.

There shouldn't be because they are in 2 different classess / Sub compact VS Compact.

? What about New Holland? And what about Case/IH DXE Farmall? Simplicity makes one, but it is so ugly it shouldn't even be considered. And Cub Cadet makes a subcompact (they call it Compact, but it's like a BX...).

Just a few others that come to mind. Not that it matters to the discussion. A CUT can't fit in a pickup. Only a SCUT.

And one-way rentals of u-hauls and such usually cost a fortune and are only effective if you're going a VERY long way (where the time/cost premium of returning the vehicle outweighs the cost of paying a ton for one-way rental.)

Yes I would - Now would you agree that if you can haul the bx in the bed of a 1/2 truck it stands to reason that you can also haul the BX on a trailer using that same pick up to tow the trailer??

I have a utility trailer that is 8 feet long and 6 feet wide.
I have these 4 trucks to tow the trailer with.
Toyota
Nissan
2 dodge D50s.

Looks like I'm all set to transport my bx 23 don't it !

LBrown59...... You are assuming that it is legal to put a 1300 pound BX into the bed of the pick up and that it is safe. That, in my opinion is not a proper assumption. The basic BX (1800 / 2200) weighs aproximately 1300 pounds with the ROPS and no other equipment installed. A half ton pick up has a load carrying capacity of 1000 pounds, so you are already 300 pounds overloaded. If you put the BX on a trailer, the only weight that is on the pick up is the tongue weight, which should be about 200 pounds. The other 1100 pounds is being carried by the trailer itself.
