Pecan Shaker

Does anyone have a simple, inexpensive technique to remove pecans from trees without purchasing a 'shaker'? Not enough trees to warrant purchasing one. I have thought about attaching a 5-6 foot? chain, with a small weight on the end, to a skid steer boom and gently tapping the limbs. Thought this would be a good place to ask for recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Wupping on trees with a ball and chain reminds me of a man who climbed trees and used willow poles to beat green pecans off for his family to pick up thereby getting pecans before others could. Pecan buyers got wind and refused to buy them and it took year for trees to recover. Hire a contractor to shake your trees.
