what is the average range these things go for without any additional equipment.
2 wheel drive? In my opinion - if good to excellent condition like your first impression, then a price under $3k is worth it.

I see asking prices of $2200, and $3800 (w 3 implements) in this nationwide Craigslist summary.

I think location has a lot to do with price. It looks to me like this model is least expensive in the deep south where everybody seems to have one already. Add 25-50% for NE and out here.

Post some photos and everybody will have an opinion what it is worth.

Ill have to swing by my house and grab the camera after I get off work. I am working mids right now so I am going out there tomorrow morning.

Also I am in GA so hopefully that will keep the price down some

Assuming it has been sitting outdoors a long time be sure to check tranny fluid for possible over or under fill. Could have taken on moisture. Nothing to do with cranking but could be harmful on the tranny. Just another item to take a look at. If you can't get enough fire power to crank you might consider pulling it if possible before investing in a new battery.

In non-running, and unknown condition, by both you and the seller, I wouldn't offer over $1,000. Worth about $2500-$3000 in good condition, but you could easily spend $1000-$1500 achieving that. I would get a complete set of YM240 manuals. ops, parts, and service from any Yanmar parts dealer.

I agree with Norm, non running unknown condition, no more then 1,000. heck even in good running condition in your area you can easily pick one up for 2,000, see them all the time.

I wish we had prices like that out here!

I assume from the initial description that this one will fire right up as soon as you apply the right magic. Then check it out to verify it is trouble free.

If it won't start ... walk away. I don't recommend buying a first tractor in unknown condition for any price.

Yea it seems there are lots available in the south, sucks it a way since I would like to sell my YM2001 and get something larger, but can't get much for it around here.

Good advice about not buying a non running tractor as your first, unless you have decent mechanic skills, these tractors are fairly easy to work on.

If the seller expects to get much of anything for it he needs to get it running before putting it up for sale.
