Do the glow plugs operate with the key, in any setting?? On my tractor they only work in one spring-loaded position? when released it goes back to ON... If you held the plugs on for an hour????

On my 3720 you have to turn the key and push it in and hold it to operate glow plugs.

nope.. no damage to glow plugs done.
Worst is maybe the hour meter ran up some time or battery lost some charge.
You should not worry.

The plugs only operate for a small number of seconds. Your fuel solenoid was on but it also would be if it were running. You did no harm.

Manual implies the glow plugs shut themselves off, and you hear a click when they go off (likely the relay) in about 3 seconds.

There is no GP timer on these tractors. They are ONLY active while the key is held in the start position, that is why it helps to put the range selector in gear or pull the PTO knob up and try to start it first on really cold days, it helps starting so much more. The 4100, 2210's and I think the 2305's are all the same way. Hour meter is mechanical so no harm dome there either.
