( Devildog- Thanks for the firsthand information; it's appreciated. I have driven both tractors. Just seeking information from those more experienced than myself who actually own either beast!

Well..If you have been on both of them..you know that other than the HP difference..their the same tractor. I decided on the 2630 ( over a BX that I had been looking at) and my farmer friends talked me into the extra $1000 to get the 30 HP model. That extra grand costs me $20 a month over the 4 yr loan..."BFD!!!". Could I have "gotten by" with 26 HP..maybe??? Would I have wanted MORE at some point..??.."maybe". But Im SURE the 30 hp will do me... If I "needed" anything more Id have to go into a lot larger tractor that I couldnt have used because of its physical size!!

I never had a ractor this "large"..??.. before...but have watched guys using tractor for various purposes...seen them blowing black smoke...stalling the engines...etc..etc..basically OVERworking what they had at the time...so when I "attack" a dead tree..to push over and drag out..or a pile of topsoil..or gravel...its when my 4 tires lose traction and start to spin..I know Ive got "enough"...time to take that load and come back for another one. Its acts as my "sheer pin" sort of. Its NOT some "circus act" as some might imply!! But in the exact same stock pile yard..hard packed gravel...and I mean HARD PACKED..I can run in low gear and SLIDE then I hit the brakes..so its NOT the best surface to get a tight grip on to begin with.

Now..If I'd have had to come up with the $1000 CASH at time of purchase..I might not have got the 30 HP version...but over the life of Kubota's 4 yr..4% loan...the $1000 didnt amount to jack doodlie in paymnt difference.

JMHO is all!

My dealer is coming over tomorrow to give me a price on trading my BX22 towards either a 2630, or 3030, so I'm in the same boat. My main uses will require lifting power, and pulling power, and my gut feeling is that there isn't much difference in the two tractors for those uses. If I were using a rotary cutter, I think the extra pto hp would be needed more. Other than the pto, I think either tractor will do anything you can do with a tractor of this weight, and size. Like others have mentioned, I would think you would run out of traction with either before the hp would make a difference. My BX22, on the other hand, with fel, and bh mounted will run out of power before it loses traction in cases where the traction is good for the bar tread tires. That combination is only about 300# lighter than a b2630, or b3030.

Here is my take. First, the biggest difference is the addition of 1 piston. The piston bore and stroke is the same. That is a 25% increase in displacement! The 3030 produces it's HP at 2600rpm, the 2630 at 2800rpm. That means it has to work harder to get it's 26hp. I like to run my tractor at lower rpm's to cut down on noise and fuel consumption. As a result, I can run at around 1900rpm and get similar power to the 2630 at wot. Mine cuts fine at that rpm with a 60 rear mower. I had a JD4200 before this and it had 26.5hp but with a gear transmission. It had plenty of HP and the tractor was 1000 lbs heavier. The gear transmission gave me more pto hp however, but I never had any problems running the same mower. The bottom line? To most people a tractor is a long term purchase and the extra money is not that much when spread over the years. In addition, it will bring more when you get ready to sell it. If you just can't afford the extra money, go with the 2630. I doubt you will regret the purchase, but I think you will regret not going with the 30 HP in the long run.

Quartz Creek,

I went with the B3030 because of the 4 cylinder and a little more weight. I had the rear tires loaded and use a BB or RB for added weight. It will spin the rear tires fairly quick and I still feel it could use a few hundred lbs.. However, due to my lack of experience I may be pushing it a little hard by not allowing the tractor do the work.

Save up another thousand.

I'll approach this from a slightly different angle. I think this decision is more of a personal choice. What kind of person are you?? What preconceived expectations do you have when purchasing a machine??

For example. What if you bought a new car today. Would you buy the base engine or would you pay a little more money and get the higher HP engine?? Some people are content with their low HP car. Some people are ony satisfied with more power.

So, if you are one of those people that can drive the 4cyl car, then buy the 2630. If you are one of those people that always pays a little extra for the bigger engine, buy the 3030. It's all about personal preference.

Me,,, I want the HP. :D

$1000 difference between the models is not much at all for the boost in power. I wish the price was that close between models that come in the color green :)

Just got the b3030. Its a great tractor, but I half regret not getting the L3430. On the loan, the horsepower difference is $20 odd a month - a no brainer to my mind, especially if you will be doing FEL/ground engagement stuff.

I have owned my B3030 HSDC for just over 1 year & for the most part its been a great machine. The seat sux & the $600. stereo just quit. Im all done with panasonic, i had their multi disc dvd, it was dead inside of 18 months! The 2630 is a fine machine, but to jump to a 4 cylinder & pick up extra pto hp and lifting power front and rear, $1000. is not that much. If the money is the big issue, i would buy the B7800 and and get the best of both. Be advised, once you have used a position control 3 point hitch valve, you can not live without it.

Its true, position control is great, I can't imagine not having it. It is worth the extra money.

Lawn King, I went with the seat upgrade Neil Messick suggested, and its really great. Nice suspension, 3 adjustments - lean angle, suspension amount, and lumbar. You might think of doing it.

Yes charles, i plan on getting a new seat and a nice weight box. I was in my machine for 7 hours monday, aerating an appartment complex in bridgewater, i could bailey walk when i was done. This **** seat is ruining the whole cab experience! I shelled out the extra 4 + grand for the cab to be comfortable! ARE YOU LISTENING KUBOTA? YOU ARE LOOSING SALES OVER THIS!!!!!!!!!!
