Tractor
John deere 770
I was gifted a 770, that was extremely well abused. But it started and drove. I replaced the fuel filter, fuel lines, battery, and installed a trickle charge port on the battery.
It has always started for me until the other day.
I used a VM, battery is at 14.4 volt, starter fuse link is ok. Voltage to the starter is also 14.4 volts. I turn the key and the Voltage disappears.
Before I would hear the fuel cut off scilinoid function. But now I don't.
Should I check the fuel cut off relay first or the scilinoid?
Thank you
P.s. my comment about the "Old version" is referring to the vin number ending number.

What year of tractor is mine?

Check the battery cabLes to make sure there clean and tight. Also, are you sure you dont have anything like the pto left on?
This unit, if it was like my old 870, had to have the gears in neutral, the clutch depressed, a person seated in drive seat and pto off or you heard nothing while trying to start.

In winter sometimes the seat switch would freeze up not allowing me to start tractor

Question, the fuel cut off scilinoid has some discoloration on the plug itself. Maybe some heat discoloration? Should I replace it? Also where is the best place to buy parts for the 770?

Check with your Deere dealer, or search for JD shut-off solenoid

From JD parts
Don't see a split for serial number you mentioned.

Sounds like poor battery cable connection(s)...

Fully charged battery should have 12.6 volts.

How did you get 14.4 volt - was it still connected to a charger?
