I now have a Twitter account for a few months. Is there a way to interact with my followers or do I just post updates? I will be the first to admit to being behind the times on this one. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated? Ken Sweet

I'd say be careful with that...Notice what just happened to Gilbert Gottfried and other "famous" people who have sunk themselves with not so well though out "tweets"....

Actually Gottfried is an appropriate last name if you think about it:confused:

Personally, I'm staying Luddite on that one.:D

Coincidence?...Don't think so.:D:D

Who's going to voice the duck now? Can't believe those clowns would sacrifice a cushy gig over a few ill advised comments. If I had that contract, I'd never leave the basement and any conversation would be via mime.

Saying "to be careful" really makes good sense to me. A friend posted something on Facebook not thinking that ended up in the media. Was not good. Lots of bad phone calls to deal with.

GoodYear baler belt prices just went up 14% but CCM has the answer for consumers.

Now that I have had months to think about it, I still can't find a way to promote my business on Twitter. Any ideas appreciated? Ken Sweet

I don't tweet and don't have the patience to read tweets. That said, as I understand the tweet philosophy, you just need to keep your phone in your hand and every time someone tells you something, you read something, or you do something, you post a tweet describing it.

Business ideas would be when a manufacturer promotion pamplet crosses your desk, no matter how insignificant, you post a tweet saying how great it is. When a new piece of equipment is delivered, you tweet that it is now in stock. When you hire a new employee, you tweet about your staff expansion.

I don't know about you, but thinking about how tired your thumbs are gonna get wears me out. :D

Now, that all makes sense and simple enough, however, how do your followers get notified that you have just "tweeted"? Ken Sweet

Not quite sure, but if IIRC, if someone is signed up to follow you, I think they are automatically notified. That's the point of signing up as a follower.

Ken - try googling "twitter business strategies". You'll find more advice than you can shake a stick at. It boils down to getting people to sign up for your Tweets, then they'll get any you send out. As people sign up for your Tweets you'll become visible to their subscribers also, and those folks sign up, so on... Very similar to the LinkedIn site just a "cooler" site to the geekiest among us- plus you have that 140 characters per message, excuse me- per Tweet, limit.

Good luck

How do you go about getting followers to subscribe to your tweets? I think I am about to catch on how it works. Ken Sweet

You do a lot of begging or tweet something stupid and get in the papers.

Part of it has to be what do you want to say to customers or potential customers? Perhaps, new products, promotionals, techical issues, etc. Basically you want people to see you as a go to source of info. I believe you can also link to your webpage - but not real sure on that.

Bribe them...

"Follow us on Twitter for free offers." Send out the occasional tweet that the first 25 customers who come in and mention the tweet get a free hat/pen/gloves or whatever promos your vendors are willing to give you.
