Yup buy 6 qts. and fill to the full mark. Are you aware that the oil is checked with the dipstick just sitting on the threads, not screwed in?
I have always don't this and read that's the way to do it but over on a lawn mower landscape guy forum they were talking about checking oil is suppose to be done threading it in. There talking kholer or kawasaki though and maybe those are different that we check all other things?
Has anyone found Yanmar's advice on screw in to check level?
Thanks. I'm going to assume that's Yanmar's general design philosophy and it applies to the other models as well.My YM336D has screw-in dipsticks for engine oil, transmission fluid and front axle lube. My original 336D Operation Manual, in the Service section, has the same line of text in the separate level-checking instructions for all three of those :
"..... Insert dipstick to rest on threads, but do not screw it in. ...."
You're quite welcome, glad to help, IMHO your conclusion is a very safe bet :thumbsup:Thanks. I'm going to assume that's Yanmar's general design philosophy and it applies to the other models as well.
Interesting philosophy, I suppose there might be an argument about differences between "important" and "proper" when it comes to maintenance procedures.I've always screwed the threaded plugs in to check. I feel like if it was an important issue the stick would say so.
