My bulk terminal locked down all office contact in an act of cowardice. Phone sales and deliveries only.

We have a total 40cent road tax. Used to be that if you looked at the road diesel sign at the service station then looked at the farm pump, the farm diesel would ge 40 cents cheaper. Station got a new farm supplier and he cheats. I looked yesterday and his was $2.15 (cheaper than it had been by 30 cents give or take) while road diesel was running $2.38 at a different station. Felt like going to the different station just for spite.

I have 3 ea 55 gallon drums; 1 bought full of engine oil and when empty kept for diesel, and the other 2 I bought so long ago forgot the cost. I went to TSC and got one of their $100 12v pumps and had an old trailer made from a Chebby bed. When I need diesel I hook to the trailer, go to town, fill up, drive home, park under a car port type roof and there I sits till next time to go to town. If I were a BTO I would have a tank in the bed of the truck but I'm not so I do it this way and my pickup doesn't smell like diesel.....that's important when it's hooked to my boat and I'm going fishing........which is a great way to stay away from folks these days.

I would describe the bulk terminal operator as having above average intelligence.

Let's do some calculations.

First, we have to estimate the bottom price? Let's be stupid optimistic and say $2 p/gallon savings.

Second, how much fuel do we want to hoard? Let's be stupid and say 500 gallons. So we are assuming we are going to save $1000. It might take us two years to recoup the investment? That's assuming 250 gallons per year??

Third, how much will it cost us to purchase the necessary equipment to do this venture? Probably going to pay $500 for a storage tank. Another $100 to rig it up with a hand pump? So we invested $600.

Fourth, our potential profit is $400. It will take us 24 months to realize this profit. So for the next 24 months we will potentially save $17 p/month.

Fifth, would we borrow the money to do this venture? Probably not because the payback is so low. So why would we do it?

I already have 600 gallons of tank at home. And a transfer tank on my F550. And I filled them all. It will fuel my tractors all year and heat my place for the entirety of next winter. So it was worth it for me. The saved money is better in my pocket than the oil companies.
And I filled enough cans with premium gas and stabilizer to fuel my ATV riding all summer.

Luckily we have good quality fuel here and never have issues with algae or moisture.

$3.22 a US gallon here for off road. It was $4.29 before all this Russia/Saudi Arabia/corona stuff happened.

But it apparently just went up a little since I loaded up, because our "leader" wants to make sure he really cripples the economy while it is down so he added more carbon tax this past Wednesday.

Sometimes, all a person really needs in order to justify something is to ask themselves:
Is it legal. Yes?
Does it hurt anyone. No?
Can I afford it. Yes?
Then, I want to do it, so I'm GOING to do it.
That's all the justification I need.

Is that not the way many buy a tractor? Or most attachments? I have a grapple on order and tractor. Do I NEED them? Not for my income. Not for my business. I need them for my "wants" or "don't wants". I don't want to have to cut the limbs small enough to pile them by hand. I don't want to tote the cut pieces 100 yards to a pile. Not sure the current price for diesel here but our regular gas in most stores is less than 1.70. I have a 150 gallon tank that that with retiring from farming will hold a years supply or near it. However the ease of pulling trailer with tank which stays on it to fill and back to load at my shed or pull to field where excavator is working if need be is well worth the cost of the tank and pump. Tank was bought used and trailer was small one that was extra. Less than $200 in my rig.

Might should have read this before giving away much larger tank and stand this week to employees spouse.

The price of gas and/or diesel hasn't changed a cent in our location since the price per barrel dropped through the floor.

They'll tell you that the price is based on the fuel that was in the pipe line when they refined it.
In other words the pump price was last months barrel purchase.

Funny thing is next months price won't reflect today's low barrel price.

Was quoted $1.61/gal yesterday for 100 gallons delivered, 10 cents off per gallon for a 200 gallon order.

Bought some in troy TN the other day. 2.24 for off road farm rule. 2.29 for street fuel.

Who?

If you have a farm exemption/tax I'd it cheaper but I don't remember how much

My home heating oil is 1.49, not sure about red and not sure if it's the same as red off road diesel. I know additives have a role. On road is 2.49. I need everything, but I'm not going anywhere so I don't need it just yet. Waiting for the price to bottom out. Not stocking, just restocking.

When you think about it you can't shut off oil wells they need to keep pumping. Now you have no one driving supposedly around the world on stay home orders in several countries.
That means all the tanks onshore are full to capacity, all the tanker ship are full to capacity and waiting offshore to unload.
That means every major oil producer has a HUGE problem right now. Definitely more supply than demand. It doesn't matter what they lower the price too if people can't afford it or aren't allowed to drive anyway.

Buying popcorn for this one.
