I am looking at a used tractor that does not have the QA FEL. Does this restrict the type of impliment that is used or just the speed at which the impliment is changed? Either way, what kind of options do I have with my FEL with it not being a QA?
What tractor are you looking at? Generally, QAs aren't used on smaller tractors since they don't have the lift capacity to use skidsteer attachments. With the standard pin on bucket, you can still change to a set of forks or a grapple....... but they need to be made to specifically fit the dimensions of your loader arms.
Though probably not a really fair comparison........ I'll say its like having a tractor with a rear PTO, but no three point hitch. Sure, you can use a bush hog or york rake with a draw baw hitch, but having a three point hitch opens up a door to a thousand new tasks for your tractor. I'm exaggerating a little, but that is the reason QAs are so popular.
Mostly time and size specific. I had the big pin attach on my B7800 and had forks and the bucket. After exchanging them out one time I didn't do it again. Hard job alone but doable. Easier with a helper that's strong. Had SS QA on my L3240HST and had SS QA adapter welded to forks for use on L3240HST. Now have a B3200 but it has a little different pin QA and I got forks for it that attach to bucket since I won't have really heavy fork lift work to do. Bucket forks also easier to attach and unattach.
